I post occasionally at another site under the moniker of "buccaneer." A couple of days ago, I mentioned to another poster there that he should join DU, and that I posted here under "rateyes."
A third poster chimed in and said, "I didn't know you were a DUer, I am, too. (kdpeters).
I'm over there this morning, and kdpeters tells me that a thread over here was talking about how my poll posts and explanation were being mentioned on Thom Hartmann's radio show. I couldn't believe it. Being in middle-Georgia...the only talk radio within hearing distance of me is a lineup of Boortz, Rush, and Hannity. I don't get to hear Hartmann, but have heard a lot about him.
Anyway, I come here today, and find the posts mentioning the show and NanceGreggs and my posts being on Thom Hartmann's show. What a humbling and exciting thing to find out. (If anyone has a link to the archive of yesterday's show, I'd love to see it.)
Well, anyway, I'm glad to know that what we say hear in the "underground" is getting out.
I'm working to try and make it so that just a few handfuls of states don't pick our nominee. I don't like the fact that by the time I and a lot of others get to vote in the primaries that our votes don't matter much. I say we take a page from Howard Dean's book on the 50 state strategy, and apply the principle to the presidential primaries. I think all the declared candidates should have to run national primary/caucus campaigns, instead of the way it is now. We end up, oftentimes, picking candidates that can win regionally, but not nationally...and come GE time, we are hurt by it.
Oh well, just wanted to say thanks, and ask everybody to keep working hard to hold ALL of our elected officials' feet to the fire...after all, politics is supposed to be about "we the people."
