CONFESS!!!! For the GD - who here has met Al Gore (even if it was to shake his hand)
I did it TWICE!!!

First time was at a fundraiser for Carl Schnee who was running for Del Attorney General in 2002. Gore was the guest speaker for a fundraiser and I was working the check-in desk for the event. I was busy going through the checks received and matching them up with the guest list when my co-worker at the event (DUer Molly) taps me on the shoulder and tells me to look up - it was Al Gore with his hand stretched out to me so he could shake my hand.

The second time was at Live Earth at the Meadowlands. Sometime during the late afternoon while Fall Out Boys were on stage, my friend and I noticed all the folks in the section next to us turn around facing away from the concert and staring into one of the luxury boxes behind us. Turns out Al Gore was in that box. Most of us went out to the door that leads out of the box and waited for Al to leave. You'd think it was some sort of Rock God coming through the way people were clamoring to shake his hands.

Here's my 2 pictures from that event (from a camera phone)

The guy in the middle with the blue shirt is Al Gore

Here he is again

4. I've met him
The first time was at the DNC in 2004. Our state delegations were sharing a hotel. I was invited by a wonderful woman to have breakfast with them on the day that Al and Tipper were there. Both my husband and I met and spoke with Al and Tipper for a few minutes.

The second time I met him it was in Nashville. I was introduced to Al and Tipper by mutual friends. Again, both my husband and I got an opportunity to speak with both the Gores. Because it was a much different atmosphere we were able to chat with them for a while.

They are both wonderful people.

11. Once, the weekend before the 2000 election
This was at a big rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in the heart of Sensenbrenner territory. Al and Tipper came, and the vice presidential candidate and his wife. They were doing a bus tour in Wisconsin and were behind schedule, but the crowd was happy to wait far into the evening. We were lucky enough to get places along the walkway that was set up between the street and the speakers' platform in the middle of the park. Dragongentleman and our son both got to shake his hand on his way in, and all three of us again on the way out. I have to say, in that brief moment he was really too tired and distracted to focus on who he was shaking hands with, and understandably so. We tried our best for him in the GOTV over the next two days, and he did win Wisconsin by a few thousand votes. He's the only elected president I've ever had the privilege to shake hands with ... so far.
