Blackwater disarmed US troops after accident

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21163806/site/newsweek

Blackwater Is Soaked
An arrogant attitude only adds fuel to the criticism.

The colonel was furious. "Can you believe it? They actually drew their weapons on U.S. soldiers." He was describing a 2006 car accident, in which an SUV full of Blackwater operatives had crashed into a U.S. Army Humvee on a street in Baghdad's Green Zone. The colonel, who was involved in a follow-up investigation and spoke on the condition he not be named, said the Blackwater guards disarmed the U.S. Army soldiers and made them lie on the ground at gunpoint until they could disentangle the SUV. His account was confirmed by the head of another private security company. Asked to address this and other allegations in this story, Blackwater spokesperson Anne Tyrrell said, "This type of gossip has led to many soap operas in the press."

3. It is amazing: Wonder if the US was embarrassed by it?----if so, there have
been serious problems with blackwater long time ago and the US knew about these problems. No wonder Rice will not hand over documents

6. Why would US soldiers EVER allow themselves to be disarmed?
In a combat zone? By ANYBODY? This really boggles the mind. Who is in charge over there?

33. Because they don't want...
to get shot up by some steroidal robo-droids.

In the green zone, most of the soldiers wouldn't be hard-charging infantry types. They probably weren't ready to go to war with civilian contractors.

I personally would do what the Blackwater people said ....at the time. In the Corps, we had a saying.... "Payback is a mutherfucker."

15. And keep in mind that Blackwater's mercs are very international.
I wonder how Rush's fans would feel about, oh, let's just say Bolivian mercs disarming and humiliating US troops like this, all while making many times their salary? I wonder if they'll bow to the free market in this scenario?

24. Where is Congress?
Where are the Joint Chiefs?
Where are Pelosi, Reid, Dean, etal?
Where are Clinton, Obama, Biden, etal?
Where is the media?
Where is the outrage?

These are (sadly) totally rhetorical questions since I know none of the above are going to do a goddamn thing. Oh, there'll be a few pieties & soundbites tossed around, maybe some talk, maybe some investigations --- but nothing will be done.

All of the above, and all Americans (including Republicans) should be screaming at the top of their lungs that Bush/Cheney have brought mercenaries into the picture. This is truly dangerous and truly scary --- a private army of stormtroopers. And we (the tax-paying public) are now paying for 2 armies: the official one and the mercenaries. Maybe Congress is waiting for the day that mercenaries kick in their doors and start arresting Congresspeople and dragging them off to (Halliburton) domestic internment camps. Oops, it'll be too late then.

US army disarmed by mercanies??????.. Amazing I have never belived that to be the case.. If I was comanding officer, I wil make a hell about it... Not just get the information out on the reason not to be named.. O dear the hell I have given my superiors and the blackwater...

It is a REASON that it is the ARMY who have the weapon in a country, not mercanies as Blackwater

I doubt that Blackwater is the new SS as some have pointed ut, but its true that SS sometimes disarmed Whermact units if they wanted.. But they was given the hell if the officers was knowing it. Even SS was not allowed to do exactly as they pleased.. Wel not before the late stage of the war in germany itself....

The Neocons dosent like US troops, if it was up to them, the private groups should run the army, from the kitchen to the frontline... I belive it is wrong, dead wrong to let private contractors given acess to weapon, they are not trutfull to the country in case, but for their stock, and money..

I dont know, but I belive it are a brewing thing of something in the militar bubble that we on the outside dosent know about, or maybe wil know when someone want to speak out.. I guess we have to read this books about generals who write their memories in the decades to follow.. Someway this "incident" wil come out in more than One surce of information. The republicans, or the Neo-con can never get this silenced forver..

I belive that many high ranking officers is really pissed off about Blacwater, about the mercanises and want to end it, someway somehow.. I guess the only thing that are not getting the officers to blalant revolt is the fact that they all had sworn a oat to the american republic.. And you dosent breat that without reason.. And even that this may be a reason enough, they are not been pushet THAT far yet.. But if/when the generals are pissed enough, you should never under estimate the armed forces.. Many that have belived that the military forces are lojal, what ever happenend have experienced the opposite effect when they eventually "snapp".. 20 romans emperor can write it down as a fact, they was all killed by their own guards...

If I was comanding officers on the ground and was experienced this type of behavior for "my soldiers" I wil track down ALL the blacwater "soldiers" and send then tru a boot camp they never experienced before... They wil not put a gun in the face of the US army after that.. With that type of peopole you have to be tuff, tuffer than they want to be seen as... And I guess The US army is tuff enough - even that I belive the british is better soldiers then;)

And in a sidenote. Have you ever woundered that the the last name in the Neo-cons sounds like a criminal (a con artist and so on).. Something that just hit mee now;)
