What we are really fighting is not the GOP, but the Americans FEAR of truth & reality

Progressive have an inherently difficult task of presenting people with difficult truthes. We operate within the realm of objective facts, reason, & logic. This is a very demanding path. There is no luxury for denial. No easy answers. There is the knowledge of pain & sacrifice. There is the demand for personal honesty & reflection of our own individual role in causing problems & creating solutions. There is a need for constant openness. A need to know the only constant is change. We are often accussed of being eternal pessimists, but those who make such charges are mistaken. Our road is the only true road of hope. It is only through the recognition of reality that we can bring forth positive change & transform the world. On the other end of the spectrum, we are accussed of being naive hippies for our belief in peace & love. Again, they are mistaken. There is no more courageous act than to live openly & lovingly in a world so full of fear & hate. It is a refusal to allow the destruction of your own spirit. It is those who wage war & project their fear on the 'other' that exhibit cowardice. Peace is the ultimate act of courage. And, it is the only road to our salvation.

The GOP has only been very TEMPORARILY successful because they are willing to tell people whatever they want to hear. They are not vested in creating any solutions, they have no allegiance to truth, they have no moral code. There sole intent is there own power. With no true intention of governing for the benefit of the citizens of this nation or the globe, they are free to capitalize on the powers of psychological manipulation through fear & false assurances. They tell the electorate whatever they wish to hear. Of course, this can only work for so long, until pesky reality comes crashing in on the heads of the blind followers. And, even when the water is up to their necks, many will allow themselves to drown then face a reality that terrifies them to their bones.

And, that is the crux of it. It is not the GOP or any specific leader or govermental system, we must fight. It is the fear of the people.

2. I would add that to overcome the fear, one must first fight falsehoods.
Fear is created with falsehoods, like terrorists, the devil and religions, enemy paradigms, and any othering in general. There must first be an us/them dichotomy before one has "others" to fear. Once we conceptualize humanity as one family, the only thing to fear is what you might fear in a tight community, individual behaviors rather than concepts of enemies.

The falsehood that must be overcome is that humanity is not one family.
