The announcement Friday morning that author and Oscar winner Al Gore had been chosen for the Nobel Peace Prize sparked a flurry of online sales of An Inconvenient Truth.
In the last 24 hours, sales for both the DVD and the tie-in print edition of An Inconvenient Truth have spiked dramatically on Amazon.com.
Published by Rodale Press, the book has shot up 580%, to No. 278 from No. 1,901, according to an Amazon spokeswoman. The DVD has risen 416%. It’s now at No. 16, up from No. 81.
Rodale also announced it will rush back to press for an additional 50,000 copies of Mr. Gore’s environmental opus. First published in spring 2006, the title has nearly 700,000 copies in print. The new edition will feature a sticker alerting buyers to the author’s Nobel prize.
Rodale will publish Mr. Gore's next book, The Path to Survival, in May.

I can only imagine how his next book will now sell being written by a Nobel laureate. And his next book which will have solutions in it that we can use to mitigate this crisis will be the one book I hope to see topple all the rest. This is the reaction I was hoping to see. More people will now know the truth and hopefully be moved to action.
