This poll is as meaningful as any at this point in time, but here it is anyway.

Clinton: 28%
Obama: 23%
Edwards: 13%
Gore: 8%

On 2/2, following her announement blitz Hillary led by nearly 2-1 over Obama 34% to 18%. Edwards was at 10%

3. Beautiful
I don't really trust Rasmussen (they always give Bush more credit than he deserves)... but I would like to believe Obama is making things happen... :)

7. To be fair to Rasmussen their polls in '06 for Senate were pretty accurate
One of the most accurate polls of that year. Yes, their Bush ratings seem to be tainted.

16. Also, their '04 presidential state polls were right on the mark
They predicted every state correctly, by about the right margin too.

11. which is why the first line I wrote is "this poll is as meaningful as any at this point"
meaning that yes, I know that these early polls are not cut in stone.

10. It feels to me as if the race is volatile. I expect significant shifts
not just in Iowa and New Hampshire, but everywhere.

Activists talk with each other, and swap tales, and join groups, and make comparisons and contrasts, meet for pizza and beer, maybe see a film or two, watch Jim Lehrer, read an article in THE NEW YORKER, attend appearances by the candidates, and somewhere at the other end of all that they emerge with a clearer notion of who gets their vote.

It's late for beginning that thinking and sorting out, but early in terms of how it eventually settles.

That's what gives caucus and primary campaigns their zing.

12. Good. I don't trust Hillary Clinton anyway... she's adrift in the wind on Iraq.
and I personally don't think she can win.

My God, a Hillary nomination would just about finish off the Dems for my lifetime.
