As if Doyule hasn't pissed off enought people in Wisconsin...
Now he's proposing a $20 hike in Car registration fees.

http://www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1&date=2/13/2007&id=18963

Gov. Jim Doyle tonight traded targeted tax increases - on smokers, hospitals and oil companies - for more health care and stable funding for the state's transportation system.

Handing the Legislature his two-year budget, the governor also called for a $20 increase - from $55 to $75 a year - to register cars. In his re-election campaign last year, he said he supported an increase of about $10. The biggest single increase ever in vehicle registration fees, it would cost Wisconsin drivers about $170 million more over the next two years.

Why not cut down on those pork barrel road construction projects, save the state some money?

2. I propose for Wisconsin a huge Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. An all-city,

every-town blitz.

Chicagoans will flood over the border to dive into a Wisconsin-cheese grilled cheese sandwich.

The Twin Cities of Minnesota will empty out, a torrent of cars zooming east to the Dairy State.

T-shirts. Caps. Banners. Buttons. Lawn ornaments.

They can whittle that registration fee down in no time flat.

... I remember about having a heart attack when I moved to Indiana from WI, and found out they rate plates at a % of what the car is worth ... so my tiny little 2006 Scion Xa cost me - yes, sit down - $230 for plates !!!

So, quitcherbitchin'. :hi:

5. Guess what...
No matter how much you tell stories like that, people are still going to complain.

8. I know ... I'm jus' sayin' ...
... it could be worse. And it could be worse for me, too, because I think VA's rating system is even worse than IN's, IIRC.

10. Here's a clue for you all:
Even with a $20 increase, Wisconsin's car registration fees are cheap. There are really more important things to bitch about. Why not ask the Republicans? I am sure they could find many ways to save the state some money, way that most here would not like at all.
