Wisconsin Republican Leader Charged in Teen Sex Scandal

A Wis. Republican leader has been charged with child enticement, among other charges, following allegations that he touched a minor who had run away from a facility for minors.

Donald Fleischman, the Republican Party chairman of Brown County, Wis., also allegedly provided the 16-year-old boy with marijuana and beer, touched the boy inappropriately, and exposed himself to the minor, according to an article posted on Friday by the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The criminal complaint from Sept. 7 says that police showed up at Fleischman’s house last November 19, where they found a 16-year-old boy hiding in a closet and clad only in his underwear and a T-shirt. The boy was reportedly a runaway from a nearby juvenile facility, Ethan House.

The police also found a glass pipe that, when tested, showed marijuana residue.

A second visit from police on Dec. 8, 2006, resulted in the boy being found in Fleischman’s house a second time, after the boy had been missing from Ethan House for just over a week.


Wow, I wonder why they decided to look at Fleischman's house again.

The investigation into allegations that former Clark County Republican Party Chairman Glenn Murphy Jr. sexually assaulted a sleeping man ... is in the hands of another prosecutor .... Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Stanley Levco, who is based in Evansville.

Murphy, 33, also was president of the Young Republican National Federation. He resigned his political posts .... Accusations that he performed nonconsensual oral sex on a 22-year-old man as he slept ... surfaced later the same day.

Murphy denies the victim’s claims of assault, saying the act was consensual. In 1998, a 21-year-old man told Clarksville police Murphy had tried to perform sex acts on him as he slept. Charges were never filed in that case ....

..... concerns were raised that if Clark County Prosecutor Steve Stewart, a Democrat, prosecuted him, it could be seen as politically motivated.

John Colin, Harrison County’s chief deputy prosecutor, was named special prosecutor in the case in late August, but decided about a month later his workload was too great to devote proper time to the case. .... Levco will decide whether to file charges against Murphy. A decision is expected by mid-November.
