DNC calls on Republican candidates to denounce Ann Coulter
http://www.democrats.org/a/2007/10/dnc_calls_on_re_1.php

As the four leading Republican presidential candidates prepare to appear at the Republican Jewish Coalition Forum tonight, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean called on them to denounce Ann Coulter's hateful rhetoric, and agree to stop attending events where Coulter is featured. Responding to a question from CNBC's Donny Deutsch about what America would be like if she had her way and her "dreams...came true" last week, Coulter said that it would look like "New York City during the <2004> Republican National Convention," suggested it would be better if everyone in America was Christian and added that Jews needed to be "perfected" by being brought into Christianity. Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani both spoke on the same stage as Coulter when they attended the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in March of this year.

Dean issued the following statement:

"Ann Coulter's brand of hateful, intolerant rhetoric has no place in America's national discourse. The Republican Party and its presidential candidates ought to denounce Coulter and refuse to participate in or support events at which she is a speaker. Coulter's prejudiced rant is only the latest example in a pattern of hate speech that has also targeted Gays, Latinos, African Americans, and Muslims, among others, in the past. Americans may disagree from time to time, but at our core we are a tolerant nation. Anyone seeking to lead our nation should stand up and denounce intolerance and hatred as un-American. As the Republican Presidential candidates prepare to address the RJC, they owe it to the American people to use the opportunity to take a stand on this critical matter."

3. Who started all this denouncing crap anyway? Was it us with Petreaus or them
with something else? I forget. I think all this takes away from the critical issues and occupies OUR minds as well. Like little slaps on the hand that mean nothing. It's become a petty little game.

Although I DO love Howard Dean!

4. If I was a gambling man
I would bet an enormous amount of cash that not one republican candidate will take up Dean's call. They quite likely agree with her. But one question, isn't there a large Jewish population in NYC and wouldn't it help Giuliani to denounce coulter? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Maybe it makes too much sense.

6. I suspect the media is seriously under-playing it. I mean, it's not a "real" outrage, like Kerry's

botched Joke or the moveon ad, or Bill Maher saying the 9-11 terrorists were assholes, but not "cowards".

I'd be surprised if this is widely known among the people who get their news from Cable TV.

5. Denounce? I call on them to defend her. The base of their voters they want buy her books.
I want them asked why they have not defended Ann Coulter as she is saying what their voters want to hear. What, Mr. GOP candidate do you say to the person wanting to make phone calls for you when you won't stand up for their favorite author?

7. I hope someone at the forum asks them about this
You'd think someone at an event called the "Republican Jewish Coalition Forum" would care about anti-semitic remarks.

8. Betrayus
Like all the democratic candidates jumped to denounce a certain website for their ad blasting Gen. Petraeus?
Should the comments of private citizens take up the time of our Congress and the candidates?

10. How about the Democrats focus on stuff that matters?
Leave the denouncing to the Republicans. And in fact, don't allow the Republicans to denounce liberal groups either!

11. Only 14% of Jews vote Republican.
And it would seem that 100% of those appear on Fox Noise Channel as Conservative pundits.
