Well, I guess we were wrong about Larry Craig.

That incident in the Minneapolis bathroom? Just a misunderstanding.

Kicked out of the National Guard for being gay? Just a misunderstanding.

Accused of "cruising" a guy in a department store? Just a misunderstanding.

Accused of soliciting sex in a train station bathroom? Just a misunderstanding.

Being the only member of Congress to issue a defensive statement the day after the Congressional Page Scandal breaks? Just a "freshman mistake."

Yeah, it's all everyone else's fault. They're all making it up. Uh huh.

Look, if you have a 30+ year history of this type of behavior, you can't expect many of us to be stupid enough to fall for your excuses and finger-pointing. Give me a break.

4. I don't.
If he took responsibility for his actions and had even the slightest hint of contrition about him, then yes, I would feel sorry for him and never mention it again. But he's trying to make us the fools in this.

10. Why should he be contrite? For being gay?
I think I missed something.

He couldn't possibly think that he's fooling anybody. He still can't come out for a brazillion reasons both societal & his own inability to be honest with himself. To me, that's sad. The guy can't be who he is & feels he's forced to come up with some explanation.

BTW, did this come out (no pun intended) during the matt lauer interview?

5. No,
I am not gay, but I feel pretty strongly about gay republicans that hitch their wagon to a party that keeps good people down. I have no pity for him.

12. I feel sorry for him in that he could never come out.
To me that is sad when people can't be who they really are.

And because he is a repug & has voted against gay rights is why I said that I'm also get perverse pleasure.

Another reason to distrust him.

6. And what happened in the MN airport? Just a coinky-dink!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21303825/page/3/

Larry Craig: I had been in that bathroom I don't know how many times over the years. But I'd certainly been in it.

Matt Lauer: Were you aware at all, senator, of the reputation of that specific bathroom?

Larry Craig: Well, I certainly am now.

Matt Lauer: According to the airport police and according to some gay blogs, and here go those blogs again that I know you love so much, this particular bathroom in Northstar Crossing is described as a hot spot for anonymous sexual encounters between gay men. And you had no idea of that?

Larry Craig: No, I did not know that. I had no reason to know that.

***

Matt Lauer: Because according to this undercover officer you followed, whether on purpose or coincidentally, a very well established sequence--

Larry Craig: Yeah.

Matt Lauer: --of motions, well established by members of the gay community to solicit sex in public places.

Larry Craig: So I've found in the last month

7. I am watching
and admit to being very angry. Lauer is making it sound like all gays have a lifestyle of trolling restrooms for sex. Just how am I supposed to be taken seriously to the extent that straights honestly believe this?

8. "They're making it up".. Worked on Dan Rather for a few years..
But apparently Dan's not going to let them get away with it.

I bet you a dollar they don't let Craig into the RNC next year.

16. I find is sad that people still feel they have to deny who they are
And hide out looking for satisfaction in unseamly places.

I hate that he is a hypocrite, but I pity him even more for lacking the courage to be who he truly is.

It's hard to imagine the self loathing he must have.
