but my husband is in full-on tinfoil mode. He's anticipating an attack on Iran, long about October or so, and a suspension of the elections as a consequence. It doesn't seem too farfetched, given what we now know about how these people operate. Somebody has to stop them.

From what I gather, all the journalists on the program believe the WoT was justified but they object to the manner in which it has been carried out.

The WH line is that extremism in the defense of US lives is no vice. They win this argument because people will condone overreaching if they think it was done in good faith.

Where is the questioning of the WoT itself? The questioning of al Qaeda and 9/11? Are these investigative journalists afraid of being labeled 'conspiracy theorists' or 'unpatriotic?'

The Bush WH did nothing in the lead up to 9/11. That isn't incompetence, it's dereliction of duty.

I wonder if Lynne Cheney's criticism had an effect, or whether they planned the program that way from the beginning.

I read the illegal wiretapping began soon after Cheney/Bush took office pre-911 but that was never mentioned.
