He says during the interview, "someone said that you were cruising him...whatever that is."

1. As a 70's person, I know at least 3 definitions of "cruising".
Could you be more specific?

8. Ok tell me your three definitions, then I will tell you which one.
One concerns a boat.

One concerns a car.

You try the last one.

14. We used to cruise in a car, cruise for women, cruise to just cruise. (at the time, beer was involved
None of these involved bathrooms.

3. Ask anyone in the gay community
According to Matt Lauer, cruising for anonymous sex is part of the "gay community", with universally recognized signs & procedures. Because, as we all know, all gay men are like Craig and George Michael, and can't help themselves. :sarcasm:

6. OK, I'll ask you. Are there recognized signs and procedures for getting a BJ in a bathroom?

13. In the late eighties, I think, Playboy magazine
reported on restroom sex, then primarily concerned with places like bowling alleys, as I remember the article.
They described the events and the communication that was likely to take place and it resembled the description of the Craig episode. The one point they made that did not show up in this lurid exposé (Craig, et al) or maybe it did, was that one of the questors might drop a note on the floor asking, "do you blow?"

That's about the extent of my knowledge, although I've often wished there were equivalent sign signals for exchanges with the opposite sex.

According to everything I've read, casual "airport restroom" sex is not particularly a homosexual activity, being primarily engaged in by heterosexuals, for their own reasons.

The one thing I find most offensive about this whole thing is the prudish insistance by public figures and talking heads on referring to the meeting place as a "bathroom." It ain't--bathrooms usually smell better.

18. I'm just saying what Matt Lauer said
Don't get all accusatory at me. Matt Lauer was saying that Craig followed a procedure known throughout the gay community. HIS words, not mine.

Hetero's NEVER cruise for anonymous sex. It's just those pesky gays with their happy hands and feet. (SIGH!)

19. sexuality is a continuum
Some estimate that up to 50% of men who have sex with men identify themselves as "straight." Many are married. There is no universal "gay lifestyle" but rather a range of behavior that includes bisexuality, celibacy, monogamy, sexual compulsivity, etc.

He's probably too busy staring at himself in the mirror to even notice the "hand signals". I think the homosexual community needs to release an educational manual for people completely ignorant of the gay lifestyle before this gets out of hand, no pun intended.

10. That's why the unbelievability of that comment in the interview.
He's on top,(no pun intended)of all the news, is well educated presumably, and lives in New York, so I was a bit taken aback when he said that.

"Whatever THAT is" indeed.

21. I think he's just playing devil's advocate with Craig, trying to get HIM to explain.
He's playing dumb, leaving Craig an opening to offer more detail. Maybe? I just put up a thread with the transcript.

23. I thought it was more of a distancing himself from homosexuality..
kind of like saying "really, I wouldn't know anything about THAT!"..

From the sounds of it, Lauer wasn't leaving Craig any openings.
