Wed. morning Portland City Council will hear testimony in support of impeachment
From an e-mail that I just recieved from Multnomah Democrats:

City Council Testimony Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17 at 9:30 am, the Portland City Council will hear testimony encouraging them to pass a resolution in support of impeachment. Our Vice-Chair, KC Hanson will deliver the following message, passed unanimously as a resolution of the Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee last Thursday evening. District Leader David Jackson will also testify. Please join the audience to show support.

City Hall - 1221 SW Fourth Avenue

Council Chambers

9:30 AM, Wednesday October 17 2007

Resolution to present to Portland City Council in favor of Impeachment

...Whereas, George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney have acted in a manner contrary to their trust as President and Vice President, subversive of the Constitution, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of Portland, of Oregon, and of the United States of America, by intentionally disseminating and propagating knowingly false and fabricated "evidence" regarding the threat from Iraq in order to wage a tragic, bloody war with the loss of thousands of brave American troops and Iraqi civilians, and

...Whereas, many Members of the House of Representatives, of both parties, debating the Iraq Occupation and the February 16, 2007 Resolution against the Bush Administration's "troop surge," argued facts which, if true, constitute high crimes and misdemeanors in office, by both the President and Vice President, (in particular, that critical intelligence presented to Congress and the United Nations was manipulated and falsified, not merely in error); and

...Whereas, the Democratic Party of the State of Oregon passed a resolution calling for impeachment proceedings against the current Bush Administration in July, 2005, as Resolution No. 2005-0009 and followed it with Resolution NO. 2007 - 777 in March, 2007, and

...Whereas, The Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee voted in February 2006 to endorse a congressional initiative that could result in the impeachment of President George W. Bush<1>, and

...Whereas, the 3rd Congressional District Committee of the Democratic Party of Oregon overwhelmingly endorsed impeachment proceedings, has met with Representative Earl Blumenauer, and has lobbied for his support of impeachment, and

Whereas, scores of cities and towns across the nation have endorsed impeachment, recognizing that the actions of the Bush administration have had dire and significant impact at the local level<2>,

We therefore resolve the following:

... We reaffirm our commitment to the necessity of impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney, and

... We commit The Democratic Party of Multnomah County to urge the Portland City Commission to endorse the resolution to impeachment President Bush and Vice President Cheney, and

... We request Carla "KC" Hanson, Multnomah County Vice-Chair, to speak on behalf of the Multnomah County Democrats at the City Council meeting (Wed. Oct 17) in support of the impeachment resolution before City Council.

Submitted by the Impeachment Work Group on 9/19/07 by PCP Meg Timms, PCP Joan Coates, and Democrat Barbara Ellis.

Passed Platform and Resolutions Committee September 21, 2007.

Passed Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee unanimously October 11, 2007.

2. this is another among many resolutions by cities, villages, and counties
on impeachment, how many does it require before impeachment is back on the table? I don't remember reading of any history of this happening before, are these historically unique events?
