Al Gore: Blows Against the Empire
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 03:02 AM by JackORoses
Your attention, please!

Don't buy the hype.
Though the corporate mass media continues bloviating about the invincibility of Hillary and the great public satisfaction with the current field of candidates,
there is someone speaking to us from another direction.

This is the beginning of a public conversation with our next President.

He is using new mediums to get his message out. He is not bound by the old game.

He will end the War.
He will insure our Health.
He will protect our Rights.
He will direct us towards a cleaner Earth.

This is only the beginning!

Say you want GOREvolution, We all want to change the World!

27. Sorry,
He did not fight when he was right once. What makes you think that he will not fold and walk away again. I love Al Gore, but he sold us out once. He does not deserve a second chance and we can ill afford it. I'm glad to see he is trying to pay for that. But no way does he run again. I will never, ever vote for him again.

6. No.
That was a Norwegian interview as filtered through one of Murdoch's British channels. Think about it, when Gore said he wouldn't seek the nomination for 2004 he came right out and said he wasn't seeking the nomination on AMERICAN TELEVISION. Why would he announce he wasn't running to a NORWEGIAN reporter?

7. NO! This is false information.
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 02:14 PM by JackORoses
A right wing news agency from Norway published an article today in which he repeats that he "has no plans" to run at the moment.

He has not said, "I am definitely not running."

BIG Difference.

Those who don't want Gore to run are pushing stories and polls through the mass media in an attempt to stall the growing support for Gore.
Draft Gore has received over 70,000 signatures in the past 4 days.
They are really starting to worry about Al, and are trying to kill his support by creating the illusion he is not available as a candidate.

*

With the release of these videos, however,
Al Gore is saying something all together different.

He cares about the future of Mankind and is going to do everything he can to help us...
including becoming our President

10. Everything Al Gore has stated is present tense and nothing different
than what he has been saying all along. If Al Gore were to announce he "will not" (future tense) be a candidate for 2008, he would not do it outside of the U.S. Click on the links to the original story and read the actual quotes attributed to him.

I don't have plans to be a candidate again so I don't really see it in that context at all.

"I'm involved in another kind of campaign. It's a global campaign to change the way people think about the climate crisis."

He never said ruled out, that was the media, he never said he would not run, that was the media. Everything Al Gore says is present tense, the media turn it in to future tense.

I believe this is just an effort to squelch his rising popularity after the Nobel Peace Prize and as continuous drought throughout the South and West make global warming more apparent every day to the people. The media are trying to shut down a potential candidacy now, as the Draft Gore movement is picking up steam.

and not even discussion on the issues he talks about. As usual.

What's Al doing suddenly discussing these, dare I say, Presidential issues?
Using a direct line of communication with the Public, no MSM interference
hmmmmm
and right after the Nobel, too

He's spreading his message and preparing us for his entry into the race.

Please, get over yourself, and join the GOREvolution.

You'll thank me in the end.

16. Are you deliberately not getting what you read?
I stated he has not responded to one message on any thread he started that you linked to because there is no discussion taking place, only the usual "save us" begging. Do you think he just posted these videos to "campaign?" My God some of you really are that delusional and obviously don't think he is anything but a deceitful person looking to use everything for a political agenda. It is possible he simply finds these issues as defining to the country and wants to discuss them with other people on an equal footing without the political bs or to see how many people really are serious about reasoned debate... too bad he got disapppointed because the usual blogs had to infiltrate the discussion and clog it up with their noise. A TWO WAY discussion means gathering ideas and reasoned debate ON THE ISSUES from both sides. Obviously the only thing people here are into is just using everything the man does to push their own agenda. Have you gone to the site to talk about the issues? I have. Or isn't that as important enough to you in your fervor to once again infuse unfounded speculation into it? He has discussed all of these issues even before winning the Nobel Peace Prize, but now with Current he has that two way dialogue, or so he thought.

Please don't troll Al's site.

"using everything the man does to push their own agenda"

Our agenda is the Man.

Don't you get it?
We respect his actions and admire his abilities.

We want Al in a position of power where he can do the most good for our country.

We have no ulterior motives.

18. Gore "taking time off from environmentalist work...
to promote the launch of current.com.

http://current.com/items/84960191_video_podcast_teaser_for_current_com (listen to what the announcer says. I highly doubt that Gore would approve of this Gore is taking time off from his environmentalist work.. podcast announcing current.com if it weren't true and/or he approved it). This just proves that Gore isn't all about climate change. He is more than capable of multi-tasking. He multitasked as VP and he multitasks as an individual. He will multitask when he's president.

So, what was his second public action after getting the Nobel? Issue videos. Three of them. See http://current.com/people/algore for the links to the videos (as if you haven't already).

Anyway, this is my response to people who say that Gore is happy working only on the climate crisis. From what I can see, right now he's happy putting out his views on other issues that matter to us. And actions can speak louder than words.

26. I love Gore, but
I cannot imagine how he will effect such change without becoming President.

How can he do it?

I am afraid that the corporate-owned media will just shut him out, shut him down, and the message will be lost in a torrent of stories about Paris Hilton and Anna Nichole Smith and some caucasian blonde girl that got lost somewhere... (while 100 non-white kids go missing in the same time period without a peep).

I am feeling more desperate as the clock ticks and no announcement.

We haven't had a decent "movement" in this country since the draft put the butts of every 18 year old male on the line for the meatgrinder of Vietnam. How can Gore get a movement going as long as people don't have that sort of threat hanging over their heads? As Gore himself said, we are like the frogs getting slow-cooked, and we don't know anything is wrong. The best many of us can do is spend a couple of hours after an exhausting day at work, trying to provide for our families, complaining on the internet. And even that may be risky -- what if we somehow lose our jobs and our health insurance for our families due to our outspoken political views? What if we go to some rally and get busted, and falsely charged with some felony, and there goes the whole security for the family?

I know why Gore hasn't run yet -- he absolutely hates what has become of American politics, what happened to him personally in that system, and he is probably having a very fulfilling, meaningful life right now (like in a Nobel Prize, an Oscar, and a thousand other awards...)

But I am afraid of what happens if he doesn't run. I'm afraid nothing will change until it is WAY too late. I want my kids to have a decent world to live in.

Edited on Thu Oct-18-07 02:52 AM by JackORoses
we've already wasted 8 years doing nothing but blowing things(and people) up.

8 years that could have been spent doing something about our dependency on oil and subsequent production of greenhouse gases

8 years that could have been spent building on the budget surplus, rather than almost doubling the national debt to nearly 9 trillion now.

We can't afford to waste anymore time, posturing, doing studies, pandering to corporations.
The other candidates will have to be convinced that something has to be done.

We need someone who knows the horrible fix were in and how to get us out. Someone who will hit the ground running once elected, and start directing this country in making real changes.

We need Al Gore.
