Right wing sounds like my sister and my brother-in-law...
They told my parents that my wife and I should not have kids til we had more money. My brother-in-law actually said kids are a luxury item. I could not beleive I was hearing that. I asked them "so your two daughters, did you pick them up at the electronics store?" It really hurt, that they felt I could not afford kids and could not take care of them if we did have children.

1. You should tell them that birth control is a luxury item
having children is God's law. Or are they atheists RW'ers?

2. No they are Good little Christians.
Baptist Christians. The last time I knew who they voted for they voted for Ross Perot.

5. There are things parents can do to decrease the cost of having babies.
Most parents get suckered into buying a bunch of shit made in china that kids don't need. Breastfeeding is a big money saver, both for formula and keeping the baby healthier. Even if a mother is working, a good breastpump will help her save alot of money among other benefits.

6. "only educated people should be allowed to have children"
that's a direct quote from my close friend's very liberal mother. OF course her four sons are all exceptionally screwed up adults (alcoholic, spouse abuser, dead beat dad) so I imagine her 2 masters plus her husbands graduate degrees had little to do with their child rearing abilities. Oh and they also swim in piles of money. I post this just to point out that insultingly stupid ideas come from all ends of the political spectrum.

My answer to her has always been that people who really want children tend to be the best parents. might work with your sister & BIL.

7. My sister stopped talking to me and my parents about 5 years ago.
I have not heard from her since.
