Lara Logan Appreciation thread
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 01:10 PM by BornagainDUer
I have never posted an appreciation thread before.

I have watched what, on first impressions, seemed like a lightweight if not a bimboish reporter, show her true colors.

Looks can be decieving.

Logan, the Chief Foreign Correspondent for CBS, has guts, determination and compassion.
She started off simply reporting fluffy stuff about Iraq then she progressively got more serious, probing the bigger questions. I never thought she would last long after she challenged General Abizaid awhile back on "success" in Iraq. He tried to intimidate her into not using the word "failure". She fought back in that interview against somebody who is adept at muscling opponents. She has hung in there and seems determined to tell the truth about the horrible mess.

It is very, very hard for a reporter in the MSM to tell the truth as she is now doing.

She said the following on Jay Leno:

We’re doing extremely badly, from my point of view. I was asked if I felt any guilt for the fact that the world has an impression of the war in Iraq as being very bad and going very wrong. And I said I really don’t because I can’t imagine the last time anyone saw a dead American soldier. We’ve hidden that from view. Nobody knows what that looks like, and I’ve seen plenty of it. It’s much worse than the picture, the image we even have of Iraq.

You should'nt feel any guilt Lara for trying to tell the truth. You done real good.
:toast: :toast:

Please give her a boost, an e-mail or something. She's a fighter in need of support.

5. unfortunately she did a puff piece interview of Erik Prince
and then also defended that on Leno.

Also, why didn't she use the opportunity to tell him that her name is Lar-a and not Lair-a like he was saying and like Katie Couric always says. When Lara has a chance to say it herself, it always sounds like Lar-a.

Trivial issue, I know, but it is like fingernails on a blackboard whenever Katie says Lair-a.

Good thing I am not watching CBS news for the next week as a response to their hack piece they did on Social Security, quoting the ever-unreliable Cato Institute in the process.

NBC news on Sunday did an amazing piece where they said that "the Iraq war has made us less safe from terrorism". Too bad nobody saw it because it aired on Football sunday. I also like the way they are advertising for Keith O. Unfortunately, outside of Youtube and DU Videos, the only time I get to see Keith O is on Sunday night Football.

9. I saw that. She was fighting against a bastid well versed in the art
of bullshitting. Her heart's in the right place.

Give her a break.

16. there was not even a fight
she fed him the line as a question - "And nobody you've protected has ever been killed, isn't that right" :puffpiece: "And here's the memorial to the 46 Blackwater employees who have been killed..."

I did not see a fight, and she puffed it up on Leno too "Well, all wars have used contractors"

17. My friend you do not understand the kind of pressure she is under.
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 02:57 PM by BornagainDUer
Most people would just quit, but she has decided to stay. She may have had to state that fact about none of the protected getting killed in order to get the interview. That made me wince too. She is fighting as best she can. That is why I support her.

I think its important to read the quote I put in the OP. These are the words from somebody with a heart. She is really sickened by it all.

Actually what I was thinking when she made that statement and Prince nodded, She could have said:

"Well no wonder no-one has been killed under your watch, anytime an Iraqi gets within sight you shoot them".

But then it's hard to be an on-the-ground, working reporter when you are wearing designer pumps.

10. She certainly defies the stereotype of the newsmodel...
Proving one can be both an intelligent, inquisitive reporter who doesn't just read off of a teleprompter or script (Cough...cough...Fox News....cough...cough), and also be stunningly gorgeous as well.

12. She's certainly got my support!
She's a true professional, passionate about everything that she does. She's not interested in political spin or agenda's - just about reporting the news responsibly.

Her husband better treat her right, if not, I might make myself available!
