My NEW hope for Al Gore - that he endorses Edwards or Obama!
It has been really tough to let go of what an Al Gore Presidency would mean for our country and planet; though alas, Al's on a roll and I totally respect his right to chose to run or not. His choice to not run seems more definitive with each passing day.

If he is not to enter the primary fray, then he could still have a big impact on both the future President and the Dem party platform. How? By endorsing either John Edwards or Barack Obama. If he is to make an endorsement at all, my guess would be he would pick Edwards. John was endorsed yesterday by Friends of the Earth Action:

We are endorsing John Edwards because we believe he is the candidate most committed, and best prepared to halt global warming and promote a healthy, livable planet for our families and our future," said Brent Blackwelder, president of Friends of the Earth Action.

The San Francisco-based sister organization of Friends of the Earth praised Edwards for his plans to cap greenhouse gas emissions and create a new fund to invest in renewable energy, and for his opposition to building new nuclear plants.

An Al Gore endorsement of John Edwards would provide an immediate and substantial boost, and very well could help John topple Hillary's presumptive front-runner status per the corporate MSM. I'd be equally happy if Al endorsed Barack; though I think John is a little more aligned with Al's mission and passion to combat global warming. Of course, giving the nod to Dennis would be my first wish - but a wish it is. Pragmatically speaking, I do not expect that.

It is time to move on from my Al Gore Presidential dream, wish him the very best in his new direction - and hope for a more realistic goal. That goal is an endorsement from Al which would change the very dynamics of the Dem primary race, and infuse either the John Edwards or Barack Obama campaign with a big push that could upset the Hillary donkey cart.

1. You're Kidding, Right??
Obama & Edwards aren't getting the nomination. Al Gore can endorse them 10 TIMES, and it's not going to make a difference.

The only difference that is possible, is that he RUNS and WINS the nomination.

Believe me, Al is the ONLY candidate I'd trade my Kucinich vote for! Though for many of us that have dreamed of an Al Gore Presidency in 08, the notion of how long to hang to that hope comes into play.

Speaking just for myself, I thought that if it were to happen - we'd see it just after he won the NPP. We heard tons of gratitude...but nothing about a presidential bid. In fact, just the opposite - per threads like this:

If Al is not going to run, then I look to the bigger picture and what he could do to still dramatically influence the race in a positive way! And he is in a position to do just that....

2. absolutely the way to go, and he can get a promise from them to work with him
for climate change solutions! Hell, how about head of the EPA? or consultant to the head of the EPA? or secretary of the environment, if there is such a thing.

8. Edwards was endorsed by the Sierra Club, and would give Al Gore a platform....
I think Gore endorsing Edwards is the right move.

You can bet if Edwards is President that Al Gore would have plenty of opportunities to advise and move this Government to adopt environmentally sound policies, including immediate action on Global Warming.

A few days back there was an obvious troll here saying that Edwards had the 'worst' environmental record --which is provably wrong UNLESS you read the RW trash rags who are attempting to paint Edwards as an unacceptable candidate for Democrats.

Imagine what it would be like for Edwards and Gore to speak out on Global Warming without the drag of corporate special interests in a position to sabotage their efforts by calling in favors.
