Now that's a lot of Salmon, even given the size of King Chinooks in Alaska!

Rep. Don Young (R-AK) spent another $184,708 on legal fees in the 3rd quarter of 2007
16 October 2007 - http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/30291

Alaska's sole member of the U.S. House, Don Young, was named one of the most corrupt members of Congress in CREW's report, Beyond DeLay.

Mr. Young is using campaign funds to pay for his legal fees -- and he's using a lot of campaign funds:

U.S. Rep. Don Young continued to spend thousands of dollars of campaign donations on attorneys through the summer, according to financial reports filed by his campaign on Monday.

The reports, to the Federal Election Commission, show that over the past three months, Young spent $184,708 on legal fees.

That brings Young's total spending on legal advice this year to $446,845.

2. Crooked as they come.
NOBODY spends that kind of money on lawyers if they aren't guilty of something. Of course, I suppose it's easy for him -- since he's spending his CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS!! What a scumbag.

3. Spending campaign contributions as a legal defense fund? THAT I don't get.
Maybe we need a lawyer to look at the legality of that issue, misuse of funds. ??

Don't the contributors use them as tax write-offs. If so, and they are not spent on campaigns, who is breaking the law? Can the deductions still be valid?

4. Anyone? Is it legal to spend campaign contributions to defend against corruption?
This just seems totally wrong. Especially if someone is taking a tax deduction in the process. Shouldn't the "person" defending themselves legally be paying for the defense?
