Ben Stein dreams of being the Freeper's Michael Moore...
so, he gets this bright idea (after all, he is brilliant, don't ya know) to make a film about how evolution is a liberal dogma

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57840

In the movie, Stein, who is also a lawyer, economist, former presidential speechwriter, author and social commentator, is stunned by what he discovers – an elitist scientific establishment that has traded in its skepticism for dogma. Even worse, say publicists for the feature film, "along the way, Stein uncovers a long line of biologists, astronomers, chemists and philosophers who have had their reputations destroyed and their careers ruined by a scientific establishment that allows absolutely no dissent from Charles Darwin's theory of random mutation and natural selection."

1. Freakin' Sweet, Lois
Here's the best part.

Stein has himself a win-win situation here.

Either this movie becomes a runaway hit and rakes in big moola at the box office, making him the Right Wing Micheal Moore in every sense of the word.

Or, the movie doesn't become a runaway hit. In which case....

He blames the liberal media. Those scurvy bastards.

The problem with trying to be Michael Moore without actually studying any of his films is that you miss the most obvious reason why his films make so much money. (I'm going out on a limb and guessing that Ben Stein hasn't seen any of Moore's movies.)

Moore is a skilled and talented filmmaker. He understands the medium of film. He knows how to make a nearly unwatchable subject into the feel-good hit of the summer.

Ben Stein, on the other hand, has experienced success in the film industry when working on movies with gifted filmmakers. After reading the article, I don't remember any other filmmaker names jumping out at me.

By the way, the Freepers already have their Michael Moore.

His name is Mel Gibson. And he also happens to be a gifted filmmaker.

All the freepers need now is their Keanu Reeves.

6. Hard to say.
They might be intentionally equivocating to score points somehow, or they might just be too dumb to understand the differences between (a) evolution, (b) natural selection, and (c) random genetic mutation.

then they would have something. But they are just trying to do pseudoscience in the public arena. Science does not work by appealing to the public. It works by evidence, testing, and peer review. Period.

36. *snicker* I know you are being uber-sarcastic but correct on both counts.
Cuba is the remain of what was southern Atlantis. Check out Google Earth, the shallower, submerged area north of Cuba was the rest of the landmass.

"He lied so he could stay in office and keep his agenda of peace going."(Nixon)

So did Bill Clinton and Ben and his pals wanted to impeach Clinton.

Ben is no better than Rush or Ann, when it comes to the GOP's double standard bullshit slinging.

30. YAWN!
I'm sure it's a shocking, shocking film.

Excerpt from Stein’s movie

Ben Stein "here is another shocking, shocking case"

Scientist "I don't believe Darwin"

scientific establishment "well just publish a paper with your objections and evidence not supporting it. We’d love to see it."

Scientist "evidence? I don't have any of that stuff. I just don't believe it"

scientific establishment "So no evidence. How are we suppose to be convinced then?"

Scientist "How dare you attack my reputation!"

scientific establishment "Ah, you never publish in this field. You don't have any reputation to attack"

Scientist "You've ruined my career"

scientific establishment "What career? You never published any work you did in this field and you made tons of money selling your objections to non-scientist without doing any scientific work in the field"

Ben Stein "terrible, just terrible. When will we stop this scientific establishment from forcing scientist to publish evidence, facts, observations and theoretical reports in peer review scientific publications instead of mass produced non-peer reviewed books, lecture tours and debates. Enjoy my next movie on American Doctors who have traded skepticism for Dogma. They no longer believe disease is cause by demon possession, swallowing toads and imbalance in the blood... but germs! Stein uncovers a long line of biologists, astronomers, chemists and philosophers who have had their reputations destroyed and their careers ruined by a scientific establishment that allows absolutely no dissent from the germ theory of medicine."
