Prostitutes testify in Cunningham bribery trial: Hawaii, hot tubs, cigars and grapes
Yech

October 18, 2007
San Diego Union Tribune

.....

The government closed its case with testimony from two prostitutes who were hired by Wilkes during a trip to a lavish resort in Hawaii in 2003. They testified they had sex with Wilkes and Cunningham for $300 an hour.

One of the women described seeing Wilkes and Cunningham in the spa at a private suite on the grounds of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. The suite is actually a secluded building at the hotel. They were smoking cigars, and asked the women to disrobe and climb in, she said. She recalled Cunningham feeding her grapes in the hot tub.

.....

The $20,000 trip to Hawaii included not only the prostitutes but a special diving trip. It was memorialized on a DVD, titled “Aquatic Leadership Seminar.” Prostitutes were hired on two nights, he testified.

Donna Rosetta, one of the prostitutes, testified that Cunningham tipped her between $50 and $80 at the end of the night. When Halpern displayed on a large courtroom screen a set of mug shots of jowly, middle-aged men, Rosetta identified Cunningham in the array.

The second prostitute, Tammy MacFadden, accompanied Rosetta the first night. MacFadden described Cunningham as “the boisterous one” who was “overbearing.”

“The one I ended up with was the one who was running the show,” she said, referring to Wilkes.

Over the past 20 years Alaskan oil entrepreneur Bill Allen and people who work for him gave more than $1 million to candidates running for Congress. But his connections gave him another way to gain influence in Washington -- fishing. Steve Henn reports.
