1. Doubtful
Once you put a large Army on top of an oil field, it's hard to get them to move. And I don't think we trust Turkey that much...

Or,,, maybe that's the plan the we cede the Kurds?

Scary thought.

2. Turkey does not want Kurds forming their own country
since then Kurdish controlled terroritories in Turkey might want to join newly established Kurdistan.

Edit: Hmm.. Terroritories. I think war on terror rhetoric started getting to me

3. Yes, that's my point
So we give the Kurds to Turkey for more Turkish support for our war on the Middle East. Still seems strange, the Turks are chomping at the bit for entry into the European Union, and that's never gonna happen with an invasion.

Perhaps future events will shed some light on all of this...

our dear M$M has not been telling the whole story here:
Remember all the hysteria about how Saddam gassed the Kurds? (never mind where he got the stuff)and how the Kurds were our allies and must be protected?

What they did not tell you was Turkey sent 50,000 troops into Northern Iraq in 1994.
The PKK made the Turkish government an offer of peace that did not include the Kurds forming their country, but rather a state that was part of Turkey but had its own government representation and would be allowed to speak Kurdish (Turkey has outlawed the Kurdish language)
The Turkish government basically told them to eff-off.
Not to mention that Turkey already has sent troops in to Iraqi Kurdistan they are sitting about 3 miles inside the border

on the second link when I did a search for this I also got Time who has removed the article from their site as of this week

5. Turkey wants Kirkuk. that's what this is all about.
their pipeline for oil passes through that city. the kurds have already begun a de-arabization there and basically now controlling the oil flow out of the city.

turkey said back in 04 that they would attack if that pipeline was ever threatened.

since the kurds now control that area, here we are.

yeah, believe all you want that this is about the PKK, that's just the cover story.
