Bush - Clinton - Clinton - Bush - Bush - Clinton - Clinton ...and so on...
Can anyone tell me why this is a good idea?

Can anyone show me how having only two families running the Executive branch for 20+ years isn't Imperial?

Does Jeb Bush follow Clinton after her two terms? Or some other Bush?

Are we the United States of Bushclintomerica, or are we still a representative Democracy? Or is it just these two families and the powers they represent?

Inquiring minds want to know...

1. So who does that line up next?
Jeb, I assume?

Just think of all the money they'll save printing bumper stickers. Change the year and print away!

2. It doesn't seem quite "American" does it? Especially the Walker
Bush side of the equation. If Hilary does getin there, either her experience and help from Bill will be the salvation of what bushler has left us, or we will see more of the same and know our republic is over. I give it 50/50. I really don't know.

6. It's a poor line of argument
First of all Bush was not elected in 2000.

Second, Bill Clinton was a fine president. I thank God that he was the president for those eight years.

Third, it should be the candidate and his or her ideas that merit their election, not their last name. I'm supporting John Edwards because he is the most electable and would be the best president. It has nothing to do with his last name.

9. Clinton set the stage for what is happening now
I've been a lifelong Dem, but can't ignore what happened. NAFTA, and all the others:

Here's a piece of info pie:

Yes, I know, Rense, but it makes sense and has nothing to do with flying sausages...er....saucers.

28. It is so dangerous to assume that Clinton is just like Bush
that is what sent us down this road of fascism. People were not paying attention while the neo-con radicals gutted the laws and stacked the courts and federal prosecutors. We are doomed as a nation if people don't see the difference. And that is what they count on to complete the coup.

Every day someone says the same tired old line about the names. Name should not matter. Qualifications should.

Qualifications don't mean jack shit if you're a corporate whore!

Many people have Qualifications! Not just this group of sycophants.

It's time for a "cool breeze of change" in America.

22. Hillary is not a corp. whore and if you think she is you've been drinking the
RW kool-aid. As for Nafta, I wasn't for it either, but the country was already being flooded with foreign products. I remember telling my co-workers during the Reagan years to buy American, but they thought it was better to save a few dollars and buy foreign cars, clothes, tools, toys. And the really sad fact was we were dues paying IBEW.

21. You're splitting hairs
The REALITY is that our Presidents have run as I stated - and unless a miracle happens, Hillary will beat Edwards, and everyone else in the running right now - not because she's the best candidate, but because she's the best brand name. I'd take Edwards over Clinton any day of the week - but I don't see it happening. Methinks only Al Gore can change this now...

10. Okay -- here's the deal
Clinton -- you fatten the herd up. Reduce military spending a bit, get the economy going. Then we'll (the Bushes) start some little brush war that you blow, and we'll call you weak on defense and win the next election. Then we come in and cull the herd. Rip people off blind. Make us rich beyond avarice. But people will eventually get mad, and next time around it's your turn on the cycle -- fatten them up again...

14. Thinking about it
it looks more like those political dynasties you see in India or Pakistan rather than in a mature western democracy like the US. At least we can be assured no one from the Bush family will be in the White House (except as the chief janitor) for decades.

31. All other things being equal...
"Can anyone show me how having only two families running the Executive branch for 20+ years isn't Imperial?"

All other things being equal, if it's in the hands of the electorate, then by definition it can't be Imperial in the traditional sense of the word. If it's in the hands of the electorate, by definition it's a representative democracy.

I think I qualified my position by stating "all things being equal". Now, if both Pres. Clinton AND president Bush both had stolen an election, I might give your position a bit more credibility...
