Bush set for Chabot fundraiser

President Bush will return to Cincinnati - one of his favorite campaign fundraising stops - this month, but, this time, the beneficiary will be U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot's re-election campaign.

The president is planning a visit Oct. 29 to the Hyde Park home of Reds owner Bob Castellini for the Chabot fundraising event, according to Hamilton County Republican chairman George Vincent.

Next year, Chabot's Democratic opponent is likely to be State Rep. Steve Driehaus of Price Hill, who has served his West Side district in the Ohio General Assembly for eight years.

"Steve Chabot has backed him on the war in Iraq and backed him again today" on the attempt to override Bush's veto of the children's health insurance bill, Driehaus said. "He follows the president, even at the expense of his own constituents. So, of course, the president wants him re-elected...."
