Flaming squirrel ignites car in Bayonne
Edited on Fri Oct-19-07 11:00 AM by Squatch
A kamikaze squirrel fell from the sky and detonated a Bayonne woman's car yesterday, police said today.

:hide: <---Me, scared

Tony Millar said firefighters told them it was the work of a buck-toothed saboteur that had been gnawing on overhead power lines connected to a transformer directly above the 2006 Toyota Camry.

"The squirrel chewed through the wire, was set on fire, fell down directly to where the car was," Tony Millar said. "The squirrel, on fire, slid into the engine compartment and blew up the car.
"They're always coming around here, chewing through the garbage," he added.

5. Would car insurance cover this? Or would they say they don't pay out due to electric squirrel fire?

6. I was going to write something about how "flaming squirrel" is not something...
...one expects to see in print. Then I saw the attached photo. I was really worried this morning that I might have to suffer throught he day without seeing rodent balls. Fortunately, I needn't have worried.

8. Poor squirrel. I watched one explode once, when it jumped onto
a transformer. The electricity went out up and down the street, and furry squirrel scraps were scattered about. At least he didn't suffer, but it was a shocking thing to witness--one second, happily frisking about on a telephone pole, and the next...Ker-POW!

11. I'm split on this
Should I be glad that the car was destroyed, which temporarily reduced greenhouse gasses, but at the same time, I feel for the squirrel in a "cute fuzzy animal" type way.

16. Squirrels have only recently begun growing huge balls
as evidenced by their brazen attacks on infrastructure and private property.
