Call Pete Stark: 202-225-5065(D.C.) or 510-494-1388 (Fremont, CA)
I called Rep. Stark's office this morning to thank him for his remarks and ask him not to back down. Apparently the calls have been mostly negative. Let's let him know that a lot of people are behind him on this.

2. I have already called, and mentioned this little incident
and we never received any apology for this

http://thinkprogress.org/2007/09/12/boehner-troop-deaths-in-iraq-are-a-small-price/

Boehner: Troop deaths in Iraq are ‘a small price.’In an interview on CNN today, Wolf Blitzer asked House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) about “the Americans who are killed every month” in Iraq and “how much longer” the “military commitment is going to require?” “The investment that we’re making today will be a small price if we’re able to stop al Qaeda here,” replied Boehner. As Atrios notes, the “small price” Boehner refers to is “3774 dead US troops and counting.”

I'm betting she does it before the evening news tonight.

9. very quickly, I think
the first time she is asked about it, if not sooner. As will any other dem who is asked, imo. They spend their careers being careful about what they say, why let Stark drag them down?

10. She does and she will hear from me.
Dammit, I don't have a lot of money for long distance calls now, but I'm sick, sick, sick of these people who are not willing to stand up and take this criminal administration on. From the theft of the election to an illegal war to war crimes to treason, they have been given permission by our Congress to run amuk and destroy our Constitution. Madame Speaker, you need to stand up and quit being nice.

18. Right ~ she needs to side step this issue and let
Stark speak for Stark.

We know exactly how she feels, she doesn't want to make a mistake and let the Democratic Party look bad.

Well, I wish that she had thought about how bad we looked when she made her now "WORDS HEARD ROUND THE WORLD" statement...

"Impeachment is OFF the Table."

Now that demands an "I'm sorry" because those five little words were far more insulting to our party than any of the words that STARK spoke yesterday.

Nancy needs to stay quiet on this, please Nancy, please shut up!

Told the young lady that the man had not said one word that I or any of the people I know haven't said. He has no need to apologize. To thank him for being willing to speak out and speak the truth to people who would call for more death. He has my support.

14. He was my Congressman when I lived in California . . .
Always an unabashed liberal from equally unabashed San Francisco Bay area. His constituents continue to return him to Congress because he accurately and consistently represents their views.

Pelosi (whose district may even share a border with his, I'm not sure) should be pretty damn careful if she's considering woodshedding him.

At most a statement like "the whole country is frustrated by the president's disastrous and foolish Iraq policies and sometimes politeness fails. But one heated comment doesn't compare to tens of thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands of crippling injuries, which is the truth of what's happening in Iraq. Our Republican colleagues need to look inside themselves -- as the American people have done -- and develop some sense of proportion."

But if she bashes him, or seems to be withering under 'Lican obloquy, then she'll lose mass quantities of credibility (and frankly, she's teetering already).

Something tells me they are preparing a " put him under the bus" statement and that would be a disaster!

21. tell 'em
"blatant corruption and acute sadism was never remedied by graciousness alone."

We've watched him smirk through 4 stolen elections, a morning of brutal attacks, two wars, the eviceration of our Constitution, the rule of law, and trash our checks and balances, and legalized sadism.

How many of us got off on blowing up frogs with fireworks. . .?

I didn't.

He acts as though he IS amused and this proclivity is life long.

Good for Stark.

26. I already did. It felt great.
The phone answered on the first ring, like it was the Maytag repair center. Kind of sad, really.

But I let them know that it heals the majority of this country's psyche to have open and honest communication. And that most of Americans have been sitting here for seven years in a state of shock and discouragement.

The aide that answered the phone said yesterday's comments was pretty bad, but today it's going the other way. She asked where I lived and said it was fine that I din't live in his district. They just wanted to know where everyone is calling from. She was very appreciative.

Please keep calling!

I got right through. It went like this....

"Hi my name is --- from NY and I want to thank Mr Stark for his brave remarks yesterday."

The unknown gentleman on the other end of the phone, "Well thank you Mr. -. We are very happy to hear these kind of calls today.!" He seemed VERY happy.

Me: "I just want Mr Stark to know he speaks for me and thousands of other Americans and it is a great thing to see a democrat with a backbone!"
(I wish I said "millions.')

Slight chuckle. "Thanks again. We really appreciate the words of encouragement."

OH MAN THAT FELT GOOD!!!!!!!!!
