They aren't covering the deaths of Iraqis, nor are they giving an accurate total of dead and maimed since the first Gulf War. They aren't covering the dangers of DU munitions. They aren't covering the 1/3 of first Gulf war vets diagnosed with permanent disabilities. They're not covering the change in procedure that now leaves DU fragments in service men and women's bodies, instead of removing them. They're studying the situation, and want those fragments left there to determine how dangerous they are, and what the results of leaving them there are. They're not covering the fact that Walter Reid has not been fixed. They're not covering the number of servicemen and women who are suffering from debilitating PTSD. They're not covering the suicides of vets. They're not covering much of the anti-war movement.
The number of Iraqis killed by the first gulf war, a decade of sanctions, the second gulf war and the DU material strewn around Iraq is, as far as I can determine, around 3,500,000, with 4.5 million internally displaced and 2.5 million externally displaced. They're not covering the fact that Iraqis don't have running water, refrigeration, electricity, health care or education. They're not telling us that the reason the Iraqis themselves haven't fixed these things has to do with a decade of sanctions, reparations that they are paying to anyone who thinks they suffered economic consequences from the first Gulf War (which was also based on lies; the Iraqis weren't in Kuwait. That's another story.), the US is scooping oil revenues, and the Iraqi people are not receiving reparations to the damage done to their civilian infrastructure by the bombing runs of the US. The US knew they were targetting civilians, and did so in defiance of international law.
You want to know why "they" hate you? Take a damn good look at US policies, and it will become clear to you.
