"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building."

- Ann Coulter, New York Observer, 08-26-02

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths and how many, what day it's gonna happen? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

- Barbara Bush, said on 'Good Morning America' the day before the Iraq war started, New York Times, 01-13-03

"I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus - living fossils - so we will never forget what these people stood for."

- Rush Limbaugh, Denver Post, 12-29-95

"If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual gay sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. All of those things are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family and that's sort of where we are in today's world, unfortunately. It all comes from, I would argue, the right to privacy that doesn't exist, in my opinion, in the United States Constitution."

- Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Associated Press, 04-22-03

"I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you. This is not a message of hate; this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes and possibly a meteor."

- Pat Robertson, speaking of organizers putting rainbow flags up around Orlando to support sexual diversity, Washington Post, 06-10-98. For the record, Orlando remains undestroyed by meteors.

"Environmentalists are a socialist group of individuals that are the tool of the Democrat Party. I'm proud to say that they are my enemy. They are not Americans, never have been Americans, never will be Americans."

- Rep. Don Young (R-AK), Alaska Public Radio, 08-19-96

"Get rid of the guy. Impeach him, censure him, assassinate him."

- Rep. James Hansen (R-UT), talking about President Clinton, as reported by journalist Steve Miner of KSUB radio who overheard his conversation, 11-01-98

"We're going to keep building the party until we're hunting Democrats with dogs."

- Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), Mother Jones, 08-95

"Homosexuals want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers."

- Pat Robertson again, The 700 Club, 01-18-95

"Emotional appeals about working families trying to get by on $4.25 an hour are hard to resist. Fortunately, such families do not exist."

- Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX), House Majority Whip, during a debate on increasing the minimum wage, Congressional Record, H3706, 04-23-96

"Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past - I'm not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble - recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat. In Stalin's penal code it was a crime to be the wife or child of an 'enemy of the people.' The Nazis used the same principle, which they called Sippenhaft, 'clan liability.' In Imperial China, enemies of the state were punished 'to the ninth degree': that is, everyone in the offender's own generation would be killed and everyone related via four generations up, to the great-great-grandparents, and four generations down, to the great-great-grandchildren, would also be killed."

- John Derbyshire, National Review, 02-15-01

"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."

- Pat Robertson again, The 700 Club, 01-08-92

"Probably nothing."

- Jeb Bush, during his losing 1994 bid for Florida Governor, when asked what he would do for black people, quoted by Salon on 10-05-02

"The homosexual blitzkrieg has been better planned and executed than Hitler's."

- Rep. William Dannemeyer (R-CA), The New Republic, 08-01-94

"When lawlessness is abroad in the land, the same thing will happen here that happened in Nazi Germany. Many of those people involved in Adolph Hitler were Satanists. Many of them were homosexuals. The two things seem to go together."

- Pat Robertson again, The 700 Club, 01-21-93

"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."

- Ann Coulter, at the Conservative Political Action Conference, 02-26-02

"I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub."

- Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, NPR Morning Edition, 05-25-01

"The fact of the matter is that this (increased American casualties) is a sign of the success of our operation, not its failure."

- Ralph Reed, GOP strategist, on MSNBC's program 'Hardball,' 10-28-03

"There are some who feel that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is, bring 'em on. We have the force necessary to deal with the situation."

- George W. Bush, Chicago Tribune, 07-03-03

"Quit looking at the symbols. Get out and get a job. Quit shooting each other. Quit having illegitimate babies."

- State Rep. John Graham Altman (R-SC), addressing African-American concerns about the 'symbol' of the Confederate Flag, New York Times, 01-24-97

"Two things made this country great: White men & Christianity. The degree these two have diminished is in direct proportion to the corruption and fall of the nation. Every problem that has arisen (sic) can be directly traced back to our departure from God's Law and the disenfranchisement of White men."

- State Rep. Don Davis (R-NC), emailed to every member of the North Carolina House and Senate, reported by the Fayetteville Observer, 08-22-01

"NOW is saying that in order to be a woman, you've got to be a lesbian."

- Pat Robertson again, The 700 Club, 12-03-97

"I'm the commander - see, I don't need to explain - I don't need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the President. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

- George W. Bush, Washington Post, 11-19-02

9. Don't forget this gem (c. 1994):
"Mr. Clinton better watch out if he comes down here. He’d better have a bodyguard."

- Jesse Helms, Public statement made in 1994, a week after calling the President unfit to be commander-in-chief.

12. hmmmmmm. . . .
Blatant corruption and acute sadism was never remedied by graciousness alone.

We've watched " smirk through 4 stolen elections, a morning of brutal attacks, two wars, the eviceration of our Constitution, the rule of law, and trash our checks and balances, the looting of our treasury, and legalized sadism. . .etc.

How many of us got off on blowing up frogs with fireworks as kids. . .?

I didn't.

He acts as though he IS amused and this proclivity is life long.

Stand up for what's right, that's all we need to do. If someone gets a little over-the-top, oh well. We'd have a long, long ways to go to get anywhere near the real over-the-topness of the rabid right wing thugs.

but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country. Certainly nothing new, but we seem to have run through a spate of courthouse violence recently that's been on the news and I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters on some occasions where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in - engage in violence."

144. Cornyn should know better than this. He used to be a judge.
He used to be a civil district judge in Harris County (Houston) before he replaced Senator Cabbagepatch.

For an ex-judge to say this is most reprehensible. He doesn't know about impartial judicial ethics, apparently. Must have slept through that course (which is required) in law school.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., said: "I'm probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment."

He was referrng to the outrage that people felt over the treatment of the prisoners at Abu Gharib as shown in the photos that were all over the media..

36. Media matters has these gems to add:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200612220013

William A. Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights: "Well, look, there are people in Hollywood, not all of them, but there are some people who are nothing more than harlots. They will do anything for the buck. They wouldn't care. If you asked them to sodomize their own mother in a movie, they would do so, and they would do it with a smile on their face." <2/9/06>

Fox News host John Gibson: "Do your duty. Make more babies. That's a lesson drawn out of two interesting stories over the last couple of days. First, a story yesterday that half of the kids in this country under five years old are minorities. By far, the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic. Why is that? Well, Hispanics are having more kids than others. Notably, the ones Hispanics call 'gabachos' -- white people -- are having fewer." <5/11/06>

Right-wing pundit Ann Coulter on The New York Times' decision to report on the Bush administration's warrantless domestic wiretapping program and a Treasury Department financial transaction tracking program: The Times had done "something that could have gotten them executed, certainly did get Rosenberg[] executed." <7/12/06>

Coulter responding to Hardball host Chris Matthews' question, "How do you know that Bill Clinton's gay?": "I don't know if he's gay. But Al Gore -- total fag." <7/27/06>

Nationally syndicated radio host Michael Savage: "That's why the department store dummy named Wolf Blitzer, a Jew who was born in Israel, will do the astonishing act of being the type that would stick Jewish children into a gas chamber to stay alive another day. He's probably the most despicable man in the media next to Larry King, who takes a close runner-up by the hair of a nose. The two of them together look like the type that would have pushed Jewish children into the oven to stay alive one more day to entertain the Nazis." <8/7/06>

Coulter on Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), an African-American: "Congresswoman Maxine Waters had parachuted into Connecticut earlier in the week to campaign against Lieberman because he once expressed reservations about affirmative action, without which she would not have a job that didn't involve wearing a paper hat. Waters also considers Joe 'soft' on the issue of the CIA inventing crack cocaine and AIDS to kill all the black people in America." <8/9/06>

Nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh, blaming America's "obesity crisis" on "the left," "liberal government," and "food stamps": "Because we are sympathetic, we are compassionate people, we have responded by letting our government literally feed these people to the point of obesity. At least here in America, didn't teach them how to fish, we gave them the fish. Didn't teach them how to butcher a -- slaughter a cow to get the butter, we gave them the butter. The real bloat here, as we know, is in -- is in government." <8/29/06>

Coulter on Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-RI): "They Shot the Wrong Lincoln." <8/30/06>

Conservative pundit and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan: "Look, Kolbe is gay. He is an out-of-the-closet gay. Foley was gay. The House clerk who was in charge of the pages was gay. Foley's administrative assistant, Mr. Fordham, The New York Times tell us, was gay. You hear about a lot of others. What's going on here, Joe , is basically these, this little mafia in there looked upon the pages, I guess, as their -- sort of their personal preserve. And it stinks to high heaven what was done. And it stinks to high heaven that it was not exposed and these types of people, thrown out by the Republican Party." <10/9/06>

CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck to Rep.-elect Keith Ellison (D-MN): "OK. No offense, and I know Muslims. I like Muslims. ... With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying, 'Let's cut and run.' And I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, 'Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.' " <11/14/06>

Right-wing pundit Debbie Schlussel on Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL): So, even if he identifies strongly as a Christian ... is a man who Muslims think is a Muslim, who feels some sort of psychological need to prove himself to his absent Muslim father, and who is now moving in the direction of his father's heritage, a man we want as President when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be?" <12/18/06>

Honorable mentions (also in chronological order):

Beck: "Cindy Sheehan. That's a pretty big prostitute there, you know what I mean?" <1/10/06>

Republican strategist Mary Matalin: "I mean, you know, I think these civil rights leaders are nothing more than racists. And they're keeping constituency, they're keeping their neighborhoods and their African-American brothers enslaved, if you will, by continuing to let them think that they're -- or forced to think that they're victims, that the whole system is against them." <2/8/06>

Pat Robertson, host of the Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club: "But it does seem that with the current makeup of the court, they still don't have as many judges as would be needed to overturn Roe . They need one more, and I dare say before the end of this year there will be another vacancy on the court." <3/7/06>

Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and host of the daily Christian radio show The Albert Mohler Program: "Well, I would have to say as a Christian that I believe any belief system, any world view, whether it's Zen Buddhism or Hinduism or dialectical materialism for that matter, Marxism, that keeps persons captive and keeps them from coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, yes, is a demonstration of satanic power." <3/17/06>

Nationally syndicated radio host Neal Boortz on Rep. Cynthia McKinney's (D-GA) hairstyle: "She looks like a ghetto slut. ... It looks like an explosion in a Brillo pad factory. ... She looks like Tina Turner peeing on an electric fence. ... She looks like a shih tzu!" <3/31/06>

Boortz on McKinney's hairstyle (again): "I saw Cynthia McKinney's hairdo yesterday -- saw it on TV. I don't blame that cop for stopping her. It looked like a welfare drag queen was trying to sneak into the Longworth House Office Building. That hairdo is ghetto trash. I don't blame them for stopping her." <3/31/06>

Limbaugh discussing a videotape released by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the then-leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq: "t sounds just like the DNC is writing his scripts now." (4/26/06)

Beck: "Blowing up Iran. I say we nuke the bastards. In fact, it doesn't have to be Iran, it can be everywhere, anyplace that disagrees with me." <5/11/06>

Jonathan Hoenig, managing member of Capitalistpig Asset Management LLC, on Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto: "I think when it comes to Iran, the problem is we haven't been forceful enough. I mean if you -- frankly, if you want to see the Dow go up, let's get the bombers in the air and neutralize this Iranian threat." <6/5/06>

Fox host Geraldo Rivera: "I've known John Kerry for over 35 years. Unlike me, he is a combat veteran, so he gets some props. But in the last 35 years, I've seen a hell of a lot more combat than John Kerry. And for a smart man like that in a political ploy to set a date certain only aids and abets the enemy, and the Democrats are at their own self-destructive behavior once again." <6/22/06>

Savage: "I don't know why we don't use a bunker-buster bomb when he comes to the U.N. and just take out with everyone in there." <7/21/06>

Boortz: "I want you to think for think for a moment of how incompetent and stupid and worthless, how -- that's right, I used those words -- how incompetent, how ignorant, how worthless is an adult that can't earn more than the minimum wage? You have to really, really, really be a pretty pathetic human being to not be able to earn more than the human wage. Uh -- human, the minimum wage." <8/3/06>

Syndicated columnist and Fox News host Cal Thomas on businessman Ned Lamont's victory in Connecticut's Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate: "It completes the capture of the Democratic Party by its Taliban wing. ... hey have now morphed into Taliban Democrats because they are willing to 'kill' one of their own, if he does not conform to the narrow and rigid agenda of the party's kook fringe." <8/10/06>

Fox News host Sean Hannity, two months before the November midterm elections: "This is the moment to say that there are things in life worth fighting and dying for and one of 'em is making sure Nancy Pelosi doesn't become the speaker." <8/29/06>

Beck: "The Middle East is being overrun by 10th-century barbarians. That's what I thought at 5 o'clock this morning, and I thought, 'Oh, geez, what -- what is this?' If they take over -- the barbarians storm the gate and take over the Middle East (this is what I'm thinking at 5 o'clock in the morning) -- we're going to have to nuke the whole place." <9/12/06>

Savage: "My fear is that if the Democrats win , and I'm afraid that they might, you're going to see America melt down faster that you could ever imagine. It will happen overnight, and it could lead to the breakup of the United States of America, the way the Soviet Union broke up." <10/13/06>

Republican pollster Frank Luntz on Nancy Pelosi's appearance: "I always use the line for Nancy Pelosi, 'You get one shot at a facelift. If it doesn't work the first time, let it go.' " <10/31/06>

Limbaugh on the Middle East: "Fine, just blow the place up." <11/27/06>

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly (on his radio show): "Do I care if the Sunnis and Shiites kill each other in Iraq? No. I don't care. Let's get our people out of there. Let them kill each other. Maybe they'll all kill each other, and then we can have a decent country in Iraq." <12/5/06>

New York Post columnist Ralph Peters on Iraq Study Group co-chairman James Baker: "The difference is that Pilate just wanted to wash his hands of an annoyance, while Baker would wash his hands in the blood of our troops." <12/7/06>

Conservative syndicated radio host Michael Medved on the animated movie Happy Feet: The film contains "a whole subtext, as there so often is, about homosexuality." <12/11/06>

38. Stark is a loon!
You want rhetoric like this and Republicans in office?

Stark made a horrible mistake with this outrageous rhetoric!

He hurts the Democrats by making it harder to win!

He is helping the Republicans!

Stark's rhetoric, like the General BetrayUs ad, paints Democrats as loony and un-American!!

I'm a moderate Democrat showing courage, and the DU admin and Mods love me!

Those that agree with me are civil, but those who do not are hostile and loony!

DU is so far left that DUers don't realize how far outside the mainstream they are!!!

Many DUers aren't even Democrats!!!!!!!!!

*poop!*

54. I think I may need you to clarify some of that for me.
The reason I may need that is because in my opinion those that can't see that what Stark had said as being true are the real loons not in reality. How is it hurting democrats by telling the truth about what the republicons are actually doing under bush? Those that dissagree are usually republicons or voting republicon anyway, but the truth is never rhetorical. Now I do think that most people aren't dealing with full decks and this is especially true of many of the republicon stances, statements, and deeds I've heard and seen. I guess you view me as hostile and loony because I am in dissagreement with you that democrats can't say what they see as the truth because it might offend the most offensive self-centered greedy people this country has ever seen within it's own borders? Right, ok, uh huh, sure.

50. You can't compare craziness with a true statement.
In the examples you offer, rightists spew hate, tell lies, wish death and so on. That's poison and craziness.

But Bush sending kids to Iraq to get their heads blown off for his amusement is a statement that can be inferred from the facts of his own history. From blowing up frogs to mocking Karla Faye Tucker, there's plenty in Bush's past that suggests he is amused by violent death.

As I told Rep. Stark in an email, suggesting that Bush is a sick bastard is nothing to apologize for. It's the truth.

61. We need to face the facts. Bush man may actually be sick. I'm not kidding.
He is clearly out of touch with reality. He consistently sees the world contrary to facts established both by a consensus of world opinion but even at many times contrary to facts well established and accepted by a majority of even his own party in his own county.

He has openly, as the leading representative of the most powerful country in the world, raised the specter, if not the threat, of WWIII
in front of media representatives from all over the world and on live television. Whatever the threat of Iran might be, and I am sure it is considerable, for a sitting president to use the expression "WWIII" like a school yard bully trying to get his way - yet again - is not only the height in irresponsibility, but I put to you a sign of illness.

He "hears" God speak to him. Well, as a person of faith myself I do not find this completely beyond the realm of possibility. However.
I pause because it's a big however. If God is talking to I guy with a standing army, THE STANDING ARMY, with nuclear weapon, and telling him something about WWIII - I want him checked out.

Edited on Fri Oct-19-07 04:25 PM by RufusTFirefly
The implicit suggestion is that the Republicans are ones to talk when it comes to making outrageous statements.

But here's where I differ.

I don't see Stark as our answer to Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson or other right-wing hate mongers. Using him as a counterbalance to these rogues does him a grave disservice.

What Stark said was bracing and blunt, impassioned and angry. But, above all, it was true.

The difference is that all the other quotes cited are examples of smears, bigotry, lies, elitism, and willful ignorance. There was nothing of the kind in Stark's remarks.

In short, he enjoys playing war (witness the flight suit dress up, the jokes about WMDs, and, of course, "Bring it on!"). The deaths don't even register fully with him, nor do they interfere measurably with his enjoyment.

I don't give a flying fuck what Rush Limbaugh, Bar Bush, Dubya, or Santorum said. They are hideous people, and we expect them to act in a manner consistent with their preference for the gutter.

96. Glenn Beckkk: "Thinking about killing Michael Moore"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200505180008

BECK: Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure.

I said they should have turned it into a homeless shelter as soon as they built Reliant Stadium next door to it, to replace it. That was in about 2004.

As it turned out, unfortunately, I was right.

However, I was thinking of a homeless shelter that actually provided services to them to help them get on their feet again, like counseling, drug rehab, job training, job placement, etc.

I don't like comments on that level from anyone on either side. That includes Stark. I believe Bush is immune to the pain he should face for the deaths he caused. Bush is a terrible man who is out of touch with his conscience. I don't believe he's amused by US troops getting their heads blown off though.

Politics has become ugly and the GOP gets away with spreading the worst kinds of hate. I don't want our guys to join the GOP. Stark should apologize.

134. And, shame on Nancy P and the rest of the Dems
who follow her lead for throwing a fellow Dem to the curb, so quickly and easily - just for what the Right would call "Political Correctness"

Fact is, Bush made a sick joke about looking for WMDs and the GOP has dissed the wounded and killed civilians and troops, far more than any one statement could.

And, just to allow corporate whores to make unimaginable profits off of war - even if they've been found guilty of defrauding the government and/or of being corrupt.

Just how twisted are we going to let this country get before we take a stand?

There is a time to stand up and call people out.

Stark's statement came no where near the statements in the list.

And for those that state that Pelosi "had to state it" just for the record--wrong. Silence would have shown that she agreed--which she and any other rather human being should.

175. Great list!
I just emailed it to my congresscritters, KKKornyn, and Hutchison plus Smokey Joe Barton in the House! I also included the link for further reading that I am sure they will ignore. They hate the truth.

179. Good piece, but, to play Devil's Advocate
"My biggest fear is going to be going to the funeral of some young Iowa man or woman who dies in this conflict and having their mother or father come up to me and ask whether or not their son or daughter died for America, or died to save Bill Clinton's presidency. I don't know what I would say to those grieving parents. For that reason I believe the President must resign immediately."

- Rep. Jim Nussle (R-IA), Congressional Record, H11963, 12-18-98

This should be the Democratic counter punch response to the flap over Rep. Stark's comments on the floor of the Congress, and it should be distilled to:

Who said this?

"I don't know what I would say to those grieving parents when they come up to me and ask me if their son or daughter died for America or to save the Presidency."

It's short, it's sweet, and double-dipped in irony. In other words, a great sound bite. I'm sorry, but if you want to play a prevent defense against the R-Team, despite your dissatisfaction with the Democratic leadership and lineup, this is what it takes.

The original quote was a direct assault on not only the integrity of the Office of the President of the United States, but against Mr. Clinton as a person, implying that his personal bid for power was more important than the common people who laid their life on the line. Even with that, there wasn't the added visual imagery of Bill Clinton busting a gut whenever he heard a soldier's helmet was blown off, with the head still inside. "...For his amusement", three little words, rendered a heartfelt and justified plea for consideration of the medical needs of poor children into a deadly insult and political liability.

But, and this is the whole point: it was entered in the Congressional Record, and is therefore an historical document that will last longer than anybody reading this will.

Unless I missed a few, the other examples cited were mouth-offs on media outlets by the usual crowd of non-elected talking heads and relatives which have about as much impact on Government policy as Billy Carter would by telling Time magazine that "Republicans are a bunch of homos", then finishing his beer and crushing the can to illustrate how he viscerally felt about his brother's political enemies.

Imagine fifty years from now if you were reading the Congressional Record and read the following entries:

“So, my fellow Legislators, we have a situation where a sitting American President turns on the evening news after a hard day, no pun intended, of chasing White House interns around this desk, to replay, over and over again, the footage of the body of an American soldier being dragged through the streets of Mogadishu, and finding something amusing about it, each and every time! How does he sleep at night?”

“So, my fellow Americans, we have a President who is so obviously senile that he can’t understand what damage having our embassy in Tehran, sacred American soil, being overrun and our personnel there, all American citizens, being held as hostages, hostages, mind you, for over a year. Then, this same so-called President, cackling with obvious dementia, sends our brave soldiers to their deaths in the desert on some poorly planned and fatally flawed operation that could only have come from the mind of some sort of deranged King Lear, slapping his thigh and chuckling when their charred bodies are displayed as war trophies on the evening news.”

“Here, I submit to you, an American President, who, while encouraging brave Cuban refugees who left their homeland in protest of Marxist ideology and brutality, washes his hands of them and their fate, not even providing air cover for their courageous amphibious assault, merely laughing scornfully that 'they aren’t real Americans, anyway', when he reviews footage of them being led, blindfolded and then shot by Communist firing squads."

I guarantee you that had any elected representative had said anything like that about a sitting American President, not only insulting them as the leader of the free world, but to insult them publicly, as a man, on the floor of Congress, and to have it entered into the Congressional Record, an historical document of the workings of our government, it wouldn't just be the opposition who would be calling for a retraction, but the entire legislature. Sure, maybe they were old-school back then, a lot of WWII vets, but think about it.

You and I can go to a bar and say "George W. Bush is a fucking Nazi motherfucker, and he thinks it's a big fat fucking joke when these kids come back in body bags" or we can post the same here.

So what? We're private citizens, expressing our dislike and distrust of the present administration. Hell, I can even go outside with a sign, or put a bumper sticker on my my car expressing that sentiment. Of course, I don't want some yahoo throwing a beer bottle at me from a passing car or having the paint job on my ride keyed up, which could very well happen. I don't have Secret Service, or any protection, for that matter, do you? That's the chance you take whenever you express strong emotion on any political topic.

Stark is an elected official. He should've known better. All it shows, bottom line, is that whoever is running the media message on the D-Team is doing a terrible job.

The question begs to be asked: Are they Complicit or just Incompetent?
