Computer problem delays deployment of new US fighter jet

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii: The U.S. Air Force has been working to solve a computer problem that delayed the first overseas deployment of its most advanced fighter jet, the F-22 Raptor.

The F-22s left here for Japan on Friday but were forced to turn back when a "software issue" affecting the navigation system was discovered, the Air Force said Tuesday.

No reason was given when officials first announced on Sunday that the most expensive fighter planes in the world had been sent back to Hawaii.

They've been mucking up the F-22 and F-23 projects for years. They're the "missile defense" of fighter jets.
