5. A good observation
We are where we are because we constantly overlook the fact that all politics in this country dances to the tune of Big Money. We don't have a real democracy. We have a Moneyocracy. Money talks. Money rules -- literally.

It's also interesting to recall that these two were campaign managers in the two opposing campaigns in 1992, and they end up married to each other. Their two daughters are undoubtedly getting an interesting upbringing. As adults, if they ever choose a political party, that choice will disappoint one parent and delight the other one.

I just saw him on Wolf's show on CNN and muted it while making dinner. I looked at him and thought of all of that bad shit he is into, and how CNN keeps him as a voice of the left (puke). That is when I had my epiphany about he and Mary. An evil match if their ever was one! Absolutely on par with hannity and colmes!

38. NPR segment re Carville's firm in Bolivia, the documentary:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5298128&ft=1&f=1008

Another article describing Carville's consulting with the opposition in Venezuela:

Opposition Losing Steam, Consults James Carville
Posted: Tuesday, January 28, 2003

January 26, 2003, www.americas.org

On January 22 Venezuela's Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) suspended a nonbinding referendum scheduled for February 2 in which voters could call for left-populist President Hugo Chávez Frías to resign. The center-right opposition filed 2 million signatures November 4 on a petition for the referendum, but the TSJ ruled on November 28 that at least four of the five members of the National Electoral Council (CNE) had to support the referendum to schedule it. In the January 22 decision, the TSJ suspended the referendum until it had ruled on whether Leonardo Pizani could be counted as one of the CNE members. Pizani had quit in 2000 but rejoined in November, saying Congress had never accepted his resignation. (El Nuevo Herald (Miami) 1/23/03 from AP; Miami Herald 1/26/03 from AP)

(snip)

Opposition leaders are now consulting informally with U.S. Democratic Party strategist James Carville to improve their public relations abroad. (WP 1/20/03 from correspondent, The Guardian (UK) 1/17/03)

41. madfloridian posted this link at the bottom of Selatius's thread:
http://www.thenation.com/doc/20040802/hayden

(snip)

Early returns indicated an 80 percent majority in favor of repealing the existing hydrocarbons law pushed in the 1990s by the hated Sánchez de Lozada (or "Goni"), whose political consultants were the star liberal Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg and former presidential campaign manager James Carville. The Washington-based Greenberg firm represents British Petroleum, one of the multinationals with billions invested in Bolivia. BP supported the referendum, along with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, as did US Embassy officials, because the possible alternative--an Indian-led revolution--was even worse.

24. Carville on election night 2004
I was nudged toward my start in activism after 25 years of
apathy when my brother urged me to watch the movie The War Room
about James Carville. Running a political campaign looked like a
lot of fun to me.

It was months later before I started doing anything.

In 2004 I saw Carville on TV while they were counting the votes.
Kerry had a solid lead. Over on Fox News Brett Hume looked like
he was going to burst into tears. Carville was talking about Ohio,
Florida, and Pennsylvania as key states. He seemed quite confident.
And then some new information came in. "Okay, that's it then."
Carville didn't blink an eye. He just completely caved. He didn't
act at all surprised.

I thought that was really strange.
