Have to say, that house on the beach that is burning seems odd. Pretty far from the main part of the fire.

12. I live north of there in San Luis Obispo county, but I have one

eye peeled for columns of smoke whenever I go about my business. Although it is the fire season and the Museum of Natural History tells us it's natural in these parts of California, I am praying for a good rain storm. I hope it happens before too much damage is done in Malibu.

I went through the '91 fire in Oakland. kinda paranoid about fires. October is a bad month for winds here in the golden state. hope you & the ones you love are safe. buildings can always be replaced.

West Hollywood is far from the fire. But when the Santa Ana's you never know.

But the smoke has been off and on around the west side of the city all day.

14. I'm in coastal San Diego, & there's a strong smell of smoke outside - which means

there's probably fires in the nearby mountains & foothills.

Edit to add: The Santa Ana winds are picking up. They're sometimes called the devil winds. Dry,dry winds.

And I remember those Santa Ana winds too well. Keep an eye on conditions and try to get to a safe place if you have to. :hug:
