Stop Apologizing!!!!
by Cenk Uygur | Oct 21 2007

Nancy Pelosi did it again. One more apology on a stack of endless apologies from Democrats. Please stop being so damn weak. It's embarrassing to look at.

This time it was a rebuke of Pete Stark (D-CA) for saying the president is getting kids killed for his own amusement in Iraq. Amusement, ego, whatever. The kids are dying and it is all because of the president's vainglory. Pete Stark shouldn't be apologizing for that, Nancy Pelosi shouldn't be apologizing on his behalf or rebuking him, it should be the president who is apologizing!

Read this.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cenk-uygur/seven-step-plan-for-media_b_2236.html

It is the first article I ever wrote on Huffington Post. It's called the "Seven Step Plan for Media Domination and Opponent Destruction" and it's just as true today as it was over two years ago. The Republicans have done this countless more times since I originally wrote this article. The Democrats are apparently never going to catch on to this shell game.

But I'm long past waiting for the Democratic leaders to do the right thing or realize how badly they're being outplayed at every turn. It's time to start rooting for a new generation of Democratic leaders like Pete Stark and Chris Dodd. If they're ready to do the fighting, I'm ready to stand behind them.

1. That is
spot on, too bad Pelosi and her apologists can't see the shell game for what it is.

2. recommend -- though sometimes i feel like articles like this fall
into an echo chamber -- sounding over and over again and nobody there to listen.

well, -- except the ''base'' -- which seems to be treated like sewage.

3. The "apologizing" Democrats infuriate me......
These Dems cave the minute the GOP throws their "outrage" routine at them because they're more terrified of not looking like "nice" people than they are of losing to the Republicans.:grr:

4. Although I kind of went ewww when Stark said that about blowing up troops
for Bush's amusement, I am FURIOUS at Nancy Pelosi for reacting that way. People don't like what Stark said? Fuck 'em.

5. The fact remains...
If it's not for Bush's amusement, why ARE we in Iraq?

10. OK, I'll apologize:
Dear Mister President (wink-wink, nudge-nudge),

I know that you did not send soldiers to Iraq to get their heads blown off for your amusement (wink-wink, nudge-nudge) and I know you would bring the troops home as soon as you could (wink-wink, nudge-nudge). In the mean time I know that you and all defense contractor buddies are sadddened (wink-wink, nudge-nudge) by the news of every US Soldier's death or wounding (at least until you complete the privatization of veterans' health care).

Praying for you, love and kisses (wink-wink, nudge-nudge).

11. Did she tell him to apologize?
I thought she simply said that it was "inappropriate". If she did say he should apologize, I agree with the sentiment. Fuck her. Otherwise, if she simply condemned the statement...it's understandable.

12. she shouldn't have said anything at all
even condemning the statement (general betrayus, anyone?) plays into the hands of republicans who are screaming bloody murder over this - in short, she is saying that they are right and Stark is wrong

it makes her look like she lacks conviction and a spine
