Delhi has long struggled to cope with the marauding monkeys
The deputy mayor of the Indian capital Delhi died on Sunday after being attacked by a horde of wild monkeys.
SS Bajwa suffered serious head injuries when he fell from the first-floor terrace of his home on Saturday morning trying to fight off the monkeys.

The city has long struggled to counter its plague of monkeys, which invade government complexes and temples, snatch food and scare passers-by.

The High Court demanded the city find an answer to the problem last year.

Solution elusive

One approach has been to train bands of larger, more ferocious langur monkeys to go after the smaller groups of Rhesus macaques.

5. Feed them birth control pills? I've been in Delhi, the monkeys are WAY obnoxious.

Obviously, there are no predators to keep the monkey population in check. The only non-violent way (in line with Hindu philosophy) to deal with them that I can think of is to mitigate their propagation through contraception.

I realize that there's no way to confine the feeding of contraceptive agents to just female monkeys, and I admit that am not knowledgeable about the effects of "the pill" on males -- but if it doesn't kill them, it seems like it might be a humane solution.

Or more precisely, due to the landing. The monkeys were fiendishly clever enough to engineer things so that they can't be held responsible for his death. That shows just how dangerous they are.
