Plumpynuts?
Read, and/or, watch the video. The question for me is, why isn't there more available?

2. 60 Minutes had a great story about plumpynuts yesterday. Many
malnourished children's lives are being saved by this simple mix that's really healthy for them. First I'd heard of it, too.
Once someone figures out they can make money, stand by. I imagine there will be plenty.

Hopefully, you're right about there being plenty. Hell, I don't even care if some greedy bastards make a pile of dough on it.

4. more corporations or factories must be willing to manufacture
the product, I wonder if donations are given to Drs. Without Borders some of the proceeds goes to this life saving food for those who really need this.

7. It is a new program. They tested it in Niger and found it a success. The intention is
now to grow the program.

10. Nuts butters with essential vitamins and minerals mixed in.
Seems like a simple solution to help starving children. I hope it stays in the non-profit area.

I watched the 60 minutes report last night on this and never heard it was hard to get. What is the issue with it?

Glad they're finally figuring out that a simple peanut butter paste can do so much good.

14. That's going to be my big Christmas donation this year...
I find it fascinating though, that peanut allergies are only an issue in the industrialized world. Makes one wonder what the hell we are doing, as rates of asthma concurrently skyrocket.!

24. That's because their moms don't sanitize everything within a 10 mile radius.
Obviously you shouldn't raise a child in his own filth, but these hysterical moms who think they have to sanitize everything their kid touches are f'ing up their immune systems and creating all these allergies.

I was raised on a farm and constant contact with manure toughened up my immune system. I was rarely sick as a child and not allergic to anything.

I'm also pretty sure all the fast food, preservative and chemicals we're stuffing into kids are doing it too.

We're the ones with all the allergies, not the developing world.

doesn't need refrigeration or water and yeah! the kids eat it! :bounce:

When I was little, we used to eat peanut butter + honey. I still eat peanut butter this way. :-)

Just goes to show, kids + peanut butter is a universal combo. :-)
