Lake Arrowhead area...

Anyone there?

My brother and sister lost their homes in the fires of 2003, and they have been told to ready themselves for evacuation. I don't think my sister ever got over the first fire... this is not good. She is in Cedar Glen and my brother is at Lake Arrowhead (about a quarter mile from the lake).


Any news from the area?

CNN reported that Lake Arrowhead is ablaze and they have lost a dozen or so houses. the meteorologist said that there were NO firetrucks to be found in the area. They have all been dispatched out.

My sister was told there will be no fire trucks for Cedar Glen.

Last time the fires raged, there were some very good blogs that became active in the hours after the blaze started. You can Google others as the day progresses, I'm sure.

My neice and sister are in Lemon Grove. They are out of the fire area by some miles. I hope your family is safe.

I haven't heard from them in a long while, and I don't want to distract them with a cell call... I sure hope they give us an update soon! The roads in and out of the area are closed... I hope they got out in time.

I'm not too awfully surprised at no call... last time a bunch of cell microwave towers were burned down, so cells wouldn't work at all. It's spotty in that area anyway... mine won't work at the lake, but it will work in Cedar Glen... all the mountains and hills I suppose.


The waiting is the hardest part.
