Dalai Lama Quote On Criticizing Others
Edited on Mon Oct-22-07 02:58 PM by EV_Ares
"I think that in general we should tell the truth, and even if we express it harshly it can be beneficial. But we should avoid criticizing or insulting people, with a negative intention or a negative view of things. If we do that, our words will cause otherwise to suffer, we will not feel good in ourselves and will only render the atmosphere oppressive and stifling."

I am guilty of bad criticism, not intentional but I just thought the Dalai Lama's advice is good & I will try to work harder at not doing it.

5. Criticizing and insulting are not the same thing.
Criticism is necessary to get at the truth of things. Skepticism and critical thinking are necessary parts of rational thought.

8. He also said:

"My religion is simple, my religion is kindness"

I saw him live in Portland, OR 5-6 years ago. An amazing man. He truly walks a path of humility and strength; which is a very rare combo for anyone in a leadership position. Kinda the opposite of Shrub: who is weak and arrogant...

I hope the Dalai Lama gets back to Tibet in his lifetime. Thanks for sharing his words!

peace~:)
