The BMW Hydrogen commercial - what a load of crap
BMW has this commercial touting a hydrogen vehicle claiming it will leave it's mark without leaving a mark.

Then they say ready for the world when the world is ready. Implying that the world isn't ready for an eco-friendly automobile?

When will the world be ready, when the ice caps are gone and the oil supply has been depleted?

What a load of bu$h shit. If they could build it, then sell it, don't tease us.

1. All those ads from automakers and oil companies...

...pretending to be at the forefront of environmentalism make me sick. Chevron is currently running a TV campaign crowing about how they're so tight with Mother Nature, they're practically living together. Chevy is using a bunch of kids to weave the fantasy that their new hydrogen SUV is practically Mother Theresa with wheels. Except that Chevy are only making a few of the vehicle "to test the market" and have no real plans to put them into production for years.

BP has been shoveling it's "Beyond Petroleum" shit for years, while simultaneously mismanaging its drilling and refining operations in the worst ways imaginable.

And then there's Shell with it's profiles of "radical environmentalists" who also just happen to be petroleum exploration engineers. Yeah, right. Do I look like I came down with the last shower of fucking rain?

Scum, the lot of 'em. I'd say they deserve everything they'll get if not for the fact the rest of us will be sharing their fate.

green revolution? I wonder why they are pushing the alternatives when they are OIL companies. If you're an OIL company, then SELL OIL! Unless, of course, you don't have any more to sell. In which case you begin posturing your OIL company to become and ALTERNATIVE ENERGY company.

4. Will that be like the electric vehicle?
All destroyed after a tepid attempt at marketing?
Most of the attempts by these auto manufactures is nothing more than a front.

Hybrid SUV's? Let's see we can make an SUV get 28 miles per gallon, wow, now lets make a car get 4 times what it currently does.

8. The current wave of fuel cell frenzy IMO
is a product of teh auto/oil industries acknowledging that the days of fossil fuel are numbered.

But instead of shifting to battery electrics, with minimal parts and zero fuel, let's substitute an extremely complex technology requiring extensive service/maintenance and extremely expensive fuel.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

3. They can't build it,
you can't buy it, you can't drive it, you can't fuel it.

Classic chicken/egg. Carmakers won't make them until infrastructure is in place; infrastructure won't be built until cars are there use it.

13. If they were serious about selling it they would build the infrastructure
Build fueling stations across the country, compete with Exxon=Mobil.
They are sitting around waiting for the oil companies to step up, it will never happen until they have sucked the ground of every drop of oil.

I think your taking it the wrong way. They could mean that when hydrogen pumps are readily available at most stations, the car is then practicle enough to use for daily use.

We're not ready for this car, because theirs hardly any hydrogen stations anywhere!
