All the redactions in Valerie Plame's book
I picked up Valerie Plame's book after work today. Is it just me, or is anyone else finding all the redactions in the book distracting? I've never seen a book that actually has stuff blacked out in it. Why not just take those entire sections with the redactions entirely out?

Very interesting indeed. Seems like the CIA had a heavy pen when editing her book.

1. Why not? Because the black pages themselves are very educational.

2. I'm glad it's there. It's a documentation of how covert she was.

5. Excellent point. You are right about that. The redacted portions just peaked my curiousity even
more as to what she was going to say in those passages. It's like building up the anticipation, and then you are let down.

But you're absolutely right that it proves how covert she was.

4. Sounds, like Ms. Plame wants the readers to know how much
was redacted and maybe get the readers wondering what was cut.

6. Well the CIA can redact all they want but the truth is in the
passages that are redacted...

We all know what she was investigating and we all know the * Administration committed Treason by outing her. They endangered the nation and the world by outing her.

7. I thought she would rewrite it in a way to make it coherent.
Are you saying there are great holes in the narrative?

8. Are you truly a journalist?

The reason the black out portions are left in the book is to make the point you noted "the CIA heavy pen when editing her book."

If she were just a desk jockey or secretary as the right tries to depict, would the CIA be so heavy with the pen?

The distraction would have been deleting those portions, the story would have been disjointed. The book with the black outed out portions is a more accurate record of her story.

9. I think the OBVIOUSNESS of the redactions is a very effective message.
The B*sh-kissing crowd has been chanting "she wasn't covert"
like a retarded MANTRA; every single REDACTED line shows what
lying fools they are.

11. Because it serves as a visual reminder
of how fucked we are as a nation.
