I've decided that I'm going to write in Al Gore in the primary
If a majority of Dem primary voters did that, it would send a powerful message to the powers that be. I don't care whether which clintonobamaedwards wins the nomination so voting for Al Gore is the most meaningful thing I can do with my vote on a diebold machine.

1. Since New York is a really blue state
I just might do that too. I suppose Edwards is the only real choice, if Mr. Gore is not.

2. The Clintons, Obama and Edwards are good people but voting for Al sends message
Our nation faces dangerous times and no one wants to talk about it. Hell the RepubliKKKans sound like they're totally out of touch with reality.

4. Then help Edwards win it with me
We can't let NY go to Hillary. We don't have to let that happen.

12. I'm absolutely voting for Edwards.
It is going to take two people at 130% effort to turn this country around.
America needs leadership on a mountain of issues, from health care, to energy policy, labor fairness, media monopoly, and so on.
Al Gore is a good man but I don't think his heart is in it 100%. John Edwards is driven like nobody I've seen so far. He is all about fairness for all America, has a good business sense and is outside the inner circle of back scratchers. If he were to get another strong
populist and an eloquent orator like, say, Mario Coumo, who has a good grip on the constitution and the bill of rights, maybe those two working together can measure up to the undertaking. We need an Apollo Project to clean up the executive branch of our government before it's past the point of no return.

5. Indeed how does that make you any different from the demonized Nader voters
300 million americans could write his name in on election day but if the man doesn't want the job we can't make him do it.

7. I agree with you
I'm voting for DK or if I'm really sure he can't win it and I want to vote against Hillary in NY (probably a lost cause but I have to try) I'll vote Edwards again as I did in 2004.

Constitution.

I cofess I don't know much of his voting record beyond recent years but he seems like a man of integrity and great intelligence.

13. This is the dilemma many of us are faced with.
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 10:30 AM by Gregorian
We know without a doubt that if we voted Gore for our nominee, he'd be there. BUT, we also know that if we all voted for Kucinich, he'd be our nominee.

14. If you really want to make a statement(and don't mind wasting your vote) write in FDR....
... both actions will have the exact same result. You will register your concern, and you will NOT participate in the selection of the next Democratic Nominee for President in 2008.

21. By the time my state's primary comes around, Dem nom will be decided, so I'm voting for ...
... Dennis in the primary. going with my conscience. He wants to be president, can't win with the way our political system is set up ... but, of the candidates who are running, what he would do on all sorts of issues most closely matches my views.

22. but a majority of Dem voters won't and by not supporting one of the actual candidates
you may allow somebody you really don't want to become the nominee.

23. I think the MSMedia
has helped to keep the Gore hope alive past its logical end in hopes to create something like this and get people to waste their money on draft Gore ads. Hillary is sitting pretty with all the money she needs.

27. The Idea Is NOT Off My Table
Sorry, folks.

If I remain undecided about the alternatives (definitely not Clinton, lukewarm about Obama and Edwards, Kucinich wonderfully direct but conversely too loose and unpredictable a cannon, others non-starters), I just might do the same. And then maybe have to contend with the resultant choice-by-default in the general.

It would at least satisfy me that I first opted for the caliber and character of President I wanted. And I don't give a rat's ass if that's a quixotic gesture.
