When I see things like this, it reminds me of Katrina and the valuable help that the National Guard could have, would have, should have given the residents. But no, they were shipped off to invade Iraq.

Next time someone even hints at supporting the war, remind them of how personal this can be if even if you don't know anyone over there:

Firefighters — who lost valuable time trying to persuade stubborn homeowners to leave — were almost completely overwhelmed as gale-force winds gusting to 70 mph scattered embers on the dry brush. California officials pleaded for help from fire departments in other states. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21405632/

Just think how much further along, how many more houses and businesses might have been saved if they'd had a little extra help!

Makes me so sick I want to cry.

1. Can people vote if their addresses have burned down?
Or will the Republicans invalidate those ballots?

3. Good question. I'm sure they'll try to get away with whatever they can.
And simultaneously say the fires are God's justice for interfering with their attempt to steal 2008 by changing CA's electoral system. Or justice for Hollywood. Just give it a few days - O'Reilly will come up with some atrocious reason.

Their base was wiped out in Hurricane Katrina...while they were in Iraq.

4. Hubby and I were wondering
why there were not firefighters from other states converging there. When we had our bad fire year in Fl they came from all over to help fight the fires.
