Been busy lately and have just caught up with the latest threads.

I can't imagine what you're dealing with...although if we continue with this drought here in NC, lord knows what's in store for us. :scared:

2. Another SoCal DU'er thanks you
One of the only times I am glad we live in a dense city area with desert all around us and not a beautiful canyon setting, is during wildfires. Still, it's very scary to be surrounded by black smoke on all sides. My thoughts go out to those in the way of the flames.

If anyone needs somewhere to house a dog or two for a couple of days, let me know. I have a big backyard.

3. Thank you. Many are fearful tonight, many more literally not breathing too easily...
...and all of us who live here and any who ever lived here know...

I'm fine, except for the smoke and ash (get a load of the satellite photos of the spectacular smoke plumes), but we do have a lot of DUers in SoCal who are not so fortunate. I hope they see your post.

Hekate

14. Just heard from a high school friend who is in SD
She said they're ok but they are surrounded. Are packed and ready to evacuate when the time comes.

6. May I tack on my concern, also?
I can't imagine what you all are going through, never having been near a fire of that type. Just know so many, many people are sending strong thoughts and prayers that his nightmare will be over soon.

May they find the arsonist(s), too. Incredible.

Stay safe.

7. Thanks from bone-dry, windswept Riverside County
I am so sorry.. Somehow I feel as if the total replacement of my leaky roof may be to blame.:eyes:

Before we re-roofed, I literally had to move furniture when it rained (which seemed quite often)..and since we re-roofed... it's rained maybe ONCE.. We put this roof on 18 months ago..:grr:

My big succulent jade plants have both died, I think..and they have withstood our hot dry weather for about 15 years and fared quite well..

Our tree died last spring.. We have no lawn to kill, so that's a plus (It died long ago)..

It's so depressing to see the occasional cloud, and to know that it's gonna pass you by...like it always does..

BUT.. we are safe where we are, and I'm feeling sad for the people on the move to safer places.. (as if there really are any when the Santanas blow) :(

10. Frankly , I am surprised that Box Springs Mtn has not caught fire yet
It burns all the time.. I looked at the recent satellite photo and noticed that there's one going near Palm Springs now..and a huge sandstorm in Beaumont..

11. Interesting that there's a deleted sub thread here
I can't even express my concern without a little shit jumping in trying to stir up trouble.
