OMG, more of what passes for news. (re: CA fires) One of our local morning new casts

just reported that some television show had to close production because of smoke from the fires in California. That is the news from the fires, that some actors couldn't work. They really do think those people have importance. I guess they will have a health update on the actors tomorrow.

1. The film/video industry in CA is a pretty big part of the economy.
Not only are those actors thrown out of work, but hundreds of crew and support services.

It is news. Maybe not the most important item, but worth a mention.

They didn't mention anything about crew members. Only concern for the actors health.

7. Well, not having seen how your local station handled the story,
which sometimes can be pretty dumb, it is still legitimate news.

Were these actors in danger or something? If so, what have you got against actors?
If not, and they just suspended production because where they were shooting was in danger, it still is a story.

3. And the crews travel on the same roads that people need for evacuations
It's not a bad idea for the film people to stand down for a day or two.

2. Whenever we have an earthquake here, they send a reporter
to the milk aisle in the grocery store to show how big the earthquake was.

6. We got celebrity opinions on the fires
You know, John Travolta and that Spears flake telling us what they thought about the fires.
