Global warming is real - there is absolutely no room for debate here
Why do some people still insist on trying to debate global warming? One thing I always hear from the "global warming hoax" crowd is science should always be open to debate. That's fine and dandy if you're talking about cosmic string theory, extraterrestrial life, the origins of life on Earth, etc. But we are talking about the here and now. There is overwhelming evidence that the Earth is warming up, and that human activity is responsible for a large portion of that. Just about every single argument that the anti-global warming people trot out has been either debunked or explained multiple times. The time is past for arguing over whether it's happening or not - it's now time for ACTION.

If there are any freepers or anti-global warming folks reading this - and I know there are - what is so fucking hard for you to grasp about this? Can you not look around the globe and see the early effects of global warming? Are you that fucking blind? Arctic sea ice is melting at a record rate, and will soon be GONE. Do you think the sudden "land rush" for undersea land in the Arctic is a coincidence? These so-called "scientists" that you're relying on for your data are either right-wing nuts themselves, or they're being paid off by the oil industry. And many of them aren't even climatologists! You might as well go and ask an astronomer's opinion on ocean life.

1. The debate should be on solutions
not on the existence of global warming. It's real. Let's deal with it.

3. Sci-fi author (and therefore, Climate Expert) Michael Crighton disagrees with you
So there...Nah, nah, nah

Bet you didn't know being an author of scifi makes you an expert. He has to be, he's been quoted as if he was an expert by both the Presidents of the US and the Czech Republic.

4. Republicans know warming is happening, want it to run it's course
they wrongly believe that we are better off doing nothing about it, just let the warming run it's course and then we'll adapt as needed to the "warmed" landscape. Now there are some who are in total denial and really don't think that warming is occuring at all. This is the target demographic of the "warming debate crowd". They know warming is happening they are just trying to buy time, confuse the debate and forestall any action that could cost them billions to implement.

This, of course, is wrong headed thinking. The warming problem is spiraling out of control and will lead to immensly unpredictable and catostrophic results far worse than the course of trying to mitigate the problem now.

The global warming hoax crowd needs to be called what they are, liars and we need to move on. Bring more and more people into the fold who will think and act locally and help bring action to the problem. The hoax crowd is purposely trying to consume debating and resource time on purpose to keep us, the action crowd, off balance. Call them liars and move on. Use the rapid melting off the artic to convince more people. It will be ice free very soon. Probably within the next 10 years, the artic pole will tear apart and simply be floating ice islands before becoming Ice free. The hoax crowd is out there to slow YOU down, don't let them.

5. It's selective extreme skepticism.
If the moronically high bar of evidence the denialists set for climate change were applied to everything nearly all scientific knowledge would be thrown out. The Denialists are nothing but a bunch of sophists.

6. Of course it is. The Great Lakes would still be glaciers if it wasn't.
The earth has been warming up since the last ice age.

The only debates are how much does man contribute, and how much can man affect the trend.
