When Will Pelosi Condemn DU?
I mean, Pelosi seems pretty quick to condemn pretty much anything that hurts the feelings of the President or the Republican minority, so I guess I'm wondering when she's going to condemn us at DU. She condemned MoveOn.Org, and she condemned Rep. Stark's comments regarding this war that we're in right now because, apparently, hurt feelings take precedence over reality. Oh, sure, we can speak the truth but we just have to make sure to sugar-coat it to make sure that we don't send any of the Republican representatives into temper-tantrums. We can speak the truth, but we just have to make sure to do it in a way that won't offend the President because I know I can't imagine anything worse than offending the President!

Certainly not an illegal war where thousands of our soldiers, and possibly 100,000 civilians have died.

Certainly not the suspension of habeus corpus.

Certainly not tax breaks for the uber-rich.

Certainly not the NSA listening to our phone calls.

Certainly not the FBI prying into our reading list at libraries.

Certainly not the national deficit.

Certainly not the impending disaster that is global warming.

Certainly not the fact that it took five days to get drinking water to New Orleans.

And certainly not our leaders' collective indifference to all of the above.

Oh, goodness no! None of those things even approaches the horror of using strong language to express your viewpoints. :eyes:

Hey, Pelosi - George W. Bush is a thug and a bully who needs to be drawn up on articles of impeachment and then ridden out of town on a rail. Gonna condemn me, now?

So, fellow DUers, if you have anything to add that you think might get us condemned by Pelosi, feel free to add on.

We certainly don't rise to the level of MoveOn.org, either in size or (usually) substance.

4. Might want to edit your numbers,
It's a million Iraqi civilians dead, not a hundred thousand. I know, quibble, quibble, quibble, but it's a factor of ten, 900,000 more than government sources want to admit. They are liars.

5. But.... But.... But...
You just don't understand.

Now is just not the right time to rock the boat.

We need to let the "political experts" do whatever it is political experts do.

Just be patient.

All will work out.

Sometime.

8. Is this about Stark?
She didn't condemn him. She said his comments were "inappropriate". She was right.

12. AFAIK she did condemn Stark, but stopped short of censure.
And as far as the appropriateness of his comments...well, a lot of people here feel that they were what needed to be said (myself included).

Not official, on the record condemnation. My mistake :eyes:

16. She called his remarks
"inappropriate". If you consider that a denunciation or a condemnation, then we just have different definitions of those words.

19. Condemn - to pass an adverse judgment on; disapprove of strongly; censure
Denounce - to condemn strongly as evil

So perhaps condemnation would be more appropriate a term for what Pelosi said in response to Stark's comments.

Either way, we're really quibbling over semantics at this point. The main issue, I think, is the Pelosi should not of condemned Stark's comments but rather should of supported them.

I posted a couple days ago that I think it is odd that hurt feelings and mere words taks precedence over bullets and body-bags. It's becoming stranger all the time.

21. Of course she shouldn't have supported them
His remarks WERE inappropriate.

There are a thousand ways to condemn Bush and his management of this war that are based in fact. Speculating that he enjoys seeing troops killed isn't based in any fact at all. It's projection.

24. Failure to Impeach Is Complicity With The Torture And War Crimes
It is approval -- exoneration for the regime.

It is by far the worst result possible.

It is the worst morally.

It is the worst (non) patriotically.

It is the worst diplomatically.

It is the worst legally.

It is the worst electorally.

It is the worst politically/divisively.

It is now harshly judged by rank and file Democrats.

It is now harshly judged by the American People.

It is now harshly judged by the world community.

It will be harshly judged by our children and grandchildren.

It will be harshly judged by History.

It is the rancid elephant carcass in the National Living Room.

It is the ONLY possible legacy of Nancy "Off The Table" Pelosi.

It is the ONLY possible legacy of the current Impotent Congress.

It is the rotting flesh on the brittle bones of Our Once-Great Nation.

Other than that, nothing to add. Sorry we got the impression that the oath-taking was more than a photo op. Enjoy the next business as usual fund raiser. Thanks ever so much for the cake to eat, but some of us are diabetic.
