Paso Robles Post Office forced to strip wall of local soldiers' photos

KSBY-TV
Friday, October 19, 2007

Reported by: Amber Lee

PASO ROBLES

A Central Coast post office is forced to take down photographs of local soldiers serving overseas.

Some are likening it to a wall of shame. Since 2001, pictures of men and women in the military have been a fixture of the Paso Robles Post Office until this morning.

"What happened to the pictures? Why were they taken down?" asked Shelley Reeger, who is a military wife.

All morning Paso Robles postal employees were answering tough questions.

I wonder which of our freeptard local politicians was behind this? No photos allowed. No coffins allowed to be photographed. What kind of a totalitarian regime do we live in?

2. That's really stupid.
Local municipalities should be able to put names and faces to soldiers fighting overseas. :patriot:

3. A Post Office is Federal
And as part of the federal government, is required to follow regulations pertaining to what can and cannot be posted in its location.

If the local municipality wants to put pictures up, might I suggest city buildings like the police or fire stations, maybe city hall?

Perhaps a local business would like to volunteer space for the photos?

4. The pictures are back up.
There's a link to the follow up story right on that page. It was an anonymous call that caused them to be taken down.

6. Thanks. I didn't see the link.
It looks like wiser head prevailed, PO regulations or not.
