MARCH 17th "Why I'm marching on the Pentagon" MARCH 17th

“Common Ground has served more than half a million people without getting any government support,” said Common Ground founder Malik Rahim. “At the same time, billions of dollars have been spent on a needless war in Iraq that has drained our country’s resources which could be meeting people’s needs. We’ll be paying for this war for the next 50 years. That’s why I’ll be marching on the Pentagon on March 17.” -Malik Rahim, Founder of Common Ground

(What Malik's bio doesn't say is that he personally took responsibility for helping the citizens of NOLA while Junior went to photo ops. This is a man with sand.)

COME MARCH WITH US ON THE FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS ILLEGAL "WAR".

Let's keep the pressure on. READ more testamonials here:

4. I wish I could join you again
But I have been served with Jury Duty in the United States District Court of Florida for the month of May.

It appears that I am on call for the whole month and should be prepared to be sequestered if need arises. I have never been called for jury duty in Federal District Court so I am pretty excited to be called. Another civic duty.

But with this administration, I am sad to say, I am sure that there will be ample opportunities to protest again in Washington, DC.

So I will be there in spirit with you, Beth.

If you can hike the notice to your friend, Blue, that would be so appreciated.

Nonviolent Civil Disobedience

The March 16 Christian Peace Witness for Iraq will feature nonviolent civil disobedience at
the White House to call for a comprehensive plan to end the US war and occupation in Iraq.

http://www.sojo.net/index.cfm?action=action.cpw&item=cpw_civil_disobedience

Nonviolence is "love in action." From the biblical story of the Hebrew midwives (who committed the first recorded act of civil disobedience by refusing to carry out Pharaoh's order to kill Hebrew children), to the innumerable movements for nonviolent change taking place around the globe today, human beings have used the power of active, creative, audacious and relentlessly persistent nonviolent civil disobedience to change themselves, their communities and their world. As Christians, our faith calls us now more than ever to join with one another to put love into action by taking dramatic action to call on the nation to end the US war in Iraq.

As Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote in The Trumpet of Conscience," There is nothing wrong with a traffic law which says you have to stop for a red light. But when a fire is raging, the fire truck goes right through that red light... Massive civil disobedience is a strategy for social change which is at least as forceful as an ambulance with its siren on full."

It is critical that people of faith and conscience respond to the emergency of the ongoing violence in Iraq by engaging in prayerful, determined and nonviolent civil disobedience (or, as some call it, "divine obedience") and other forms of peaceful witness at the White House on March 16.

Preparation for such a step is crucial. Prayer, study, reflection and training inform our decision and prepare us in spirit, mind and heart to take such action. Below are links to resources that aid this process of preparation, including Nonviolent Action Training.

CPWI strongly encourages anyone considering this step to take a Nonviolent Action Training. If you have not taken such a training in the recent past, please plan to take a training in your community before coming to Washington, or plan to take one of the Nonviolent Action Trainings that CPWI will offer on Thursday or Friday, March 15-16.

13. Does it matter, at this point? Junior is about to go into Iran.
I guess I don't care who organizes the thing as long as it HAPPENS. Because we can't sit back any more. Too many deaths, too many lives being ruined.

21. And today, he clearly said he was going into Iran.
That's what I heard and that's why I posted this even though I know ANSWER is mostly non grata here.

It doesn't matter. We just need to keep the pressure up.

Enough! Not one more dime! Not one more life! Enough.

16. I really dislike ANSWER and was originally not sure if I was going to go
but after going to the march on Jan. 27 I plan on going. I figure if worse comes to worse, I can just show up late to the rally (but I would like to see Zinn speak).

18. ANSWER irritates a lot of people, sometimes me, too. But
we are at a tipping point.

We need to keep up the pressure, imho. We need to be visible and vocal. And man, I just love the idea of marching on the Pentagram. Those bastards are bleed this country dry. Okay, that's not an admirable thought but, it's the truth. lol

:)

25. **kick** and some dribbles....
ANSWER does attract a lot of the fringe groups and their causes which seems to dilute the anti-war message and sometimes doesn't attract the MSM, which it needs to succeed.

I'm already getting "sh*tmail" from my husband's vets' groups (dammit, should have married that hippie 38 years ago!) Something, blah, blah, about "desecrating the Wall" and a call to arms! Oy!!!

I still have it blocked on my calendar....waiting to hear from the locals and Team DU Spirit, I'd still like to add my warm body and bitchy voice to the crowd :D

27. I wish I could make this!
I went to the last peace march to be a Katrina representative and was lost in the crowd of general anti-war sentiment. Now I can't afford to go back, and even if I could, I can't take the time off from work that week. :(
