Well, he did say there was a year to go regarding seeing the plans of other candidates when he spoke in an interview at the UN on CNN. I read about Hillary Clinton's through an environmental site, and have read about Edward's and some regarding Obama, and also Dodd. Republicans are even discussing it more with John McCain actually seeming the one most sincere about it. I do believe Mr. Gore is going to use the prestige from the Nobel Peace Prize on this to influence the dialogue in this election regarding this crisis. I only hope he is correct that it will overcome partisan divides.
And I believe he is now the one leader of the global environmental movement to demand government and political accountability who can be successful at doing this if we back him up and help him accomplish this based on the moral imperative regardless of political affiliation. He knows the real and true effect he can have as a man outside this system at this time to influence political events and truly be the catalyst for change by mobilizing the true force behind it... our moral consciences and our voices.
However, the question remains: Can we do this and can we do this in time? Do we now have the human will to muster the moral strength and courage necessary to join in calling for this accountability regardless of political affiliation? We cannot expect anything to change for the better unless we take it upon ourselves to lay aside political pretense and rhetoric to appeal to politicians across the board to search their hearts for even a scintilla of the moral conscience it will take to join the people in this most urgent of causes.
If this can become the moral issue it is to people regardless of them being Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc., they will then demand it of their candidates regardless of political affiliation, and that increases the chances of success for our planet. I truly get what Mr. Gore means when he states that just placing one candidate in 2008 is not the answer. This must be a sustained appeal to ALL people to change our very way of thinking to lead to long lasting political change.
So once again, thank you Mr. Gore for your non partisan selfless contributions to the national dialogue. Personally, I am proud to say that there is not a better advocate for the people regarding the climate crisis than Al Gore, and I am happy he is on our side out here right now to give us the leverage we need to hopefully, finally see this issue where it belongs and to hold the feet of those who need it to the fire.

Published: Wednesday October 24, 2007
Climate change will be a top theme of the American election campaign,
overcoming partisan divides, former US vice president Al Gore said in Vienna Wednesday, according to Austria's chancellor.
Co-winner of this year's Nobel peace prize, Gore cited Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger among those Republican leaders who might find common environmental ground with Democratic candidates, Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer said following a meeting with Gore.
The race is already underway for presidential elections in the United States, scheduled for November next year.
Gore said that while he had no plans to run in the election he might return to politics.
Gore "does not expect a constructive contribution from the United States under the direction of (US President) George W. Bush," at December's climate change summit in Bali, Gusenbauer said.

Oesterreich also reported that Gore would be rigorously shielded from the press during his visit, with no interviews to be given and no journalists allowed to sit in on his speech.
Gore's host, Mobilkom, has commissioned two studies to investigate how greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced in Austria.
Among the suggestions they came up with was for executives to make greater use of video conferencing instead of flying from one venue to another.
"Al Gore is impressive proof that technological progress does not stand in contradiction to a commitment to protect the environment," Mobilkom chief Boris Nemsic said.
