Another MSM outlet picks up on Glenn "I LOVE TO HATE" Beck's hateful comments
Talk radio host links fire victims to those who 'hate America'

Glenn Beck's comments draw a rebuke from one media watchdog group, whose spokesman calls them 'heartless.'
By Andrew Blankstein, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
11:07 AM PDT, October 24, 2007

With more than 1,100 homes destroyed, two deaths reported and more than a quarter-million people ordered to evacuate, the wildfires ravaging Southern California have been as indiscriminate as they have been devastating.

But the images of charred residences, grieving homeowners and valiant firefighters apparently were not enough to move conservative talk radio host Glenn Beck, who told his listeners on his nationally syndicated show Monday that those suffering losses "hate America."

"I think there is a handful of people who hate America," Beck said. "Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today."

The thing that really blows me away is the defense they've mounted. Classic bait/switch.

From the story:

A producer for Beck responded today: "To most rational people, 'unfortunately' still means 'unfortunately.' "

This line has been used more than once by his defenders.

What they don't mention is that the issue is that Beck called them America haters, which is the crux of the issue. And their defense is empty anyway, since the twit said
"unfortunately FOR THEM".
Like, it's not unfortunate for ANYONE else.

Yeah, and 9/11 was only "unfortunate" for those in the buildings and planes, right Glenn? You stupid bastard.

If you haven't contacted CNN yet, please do so.

1. Media Matters reprinted his response. It's our fault.
Yes, it's a "few liberal bloggers." You can find it yourself at Media Matters.

I am sure that CNN will give him a raise and a hug, and that the U.S. House Dems will apologize for any of us who have been mean to him.

5. Yes, saw it at Media Matters, as well as other blogs.
If you google the little goof there's about 9 news items on it. One USA Today (the other "MSM", although it's really a blog also) and rest blogs. Oh, and there was KO as well...although I think Beck should have been the #1 worst person in the world.

IMO this needs to get beyond the blogs. Beck deserves what Imus got for this, and then some.

2. Not to defend Beck
but, its all just an act. I have listened to his radio show and he purposefully says shit like this JUST to get a rise out of others. I take what he says with a grain of salt and just consider the source and move on.

3. I had an article where he essentially said that he "lost his mind" for a while
after 9/11 ... also, he had said that he didn't get along with anybody at a lot of his other, previous jobs ... gee, I wonder why ... could it be because he was also constantly drunk at the time, along with being an asshole?

I "relish" the likes of Beck, Savage, Malkin, and Coulter spewing their, uh, spew. The more air time they get, the better. Millions of post sitters are turned to our side by the likes of these nuts. Can't believe their Freep worshipers can't see it. Well, actually I can believe. Stupid is as stupid does.

8. The problem lies in the fact that average apathetic Americans listen to this bonehead and
his crap helps fuel their own ignorance and hatred. Many in America NEVER consider the source, thus Faux, CNN, et al, exist.

Welcome to DU, Honda. :hi:

10. Not to attack Beck
But I don't care if it is an act, he's spreading global warming denial and just generally being the most offensive piece of trash alive.

Don't think that some among the impressionable masses aren't swayed by his "act" on issues like global warming.

That fact that you're smart enough to recognize it for what it is, although laudable, means little.

20. Nah. Don't strive to be Beck-like in your thinking.
Many people who love America vote Republican.

Often they've been misled, and misguided, and need to learn a better way.

Telling them they "hate America" hurts that cause.

11. Done. Here is what I sent.
Glenn Beck called the victims of the California fires "America haters".
1,000,000 people are displaced by disaster and you give a bigotted liar like Glenn Beck a show? CNN does not care about Americans as long as this damn idiot is allowed to open his mouth on your network! He does not need to clarify or restate his words. I heard exactly what this bigotted jerk said. Unfortunately!

People should be putting a boot to the throat of this hateful enemy of truth when they have the opportunity.

14. Yes, he told people they should "use their brains" and figure out when he's joking
and when he's serious.

Of course, he'll tell us after the fact. After he's revealed his true hateful nature, it's up to him to tell us all if he was "joking" or not.

What an asshole.

I would like a response to this please.

Will Glenn Beck, or CNN, be apologizing for saying that people who lost homes in California "hate America"?

Please advise.

23. Glenn BecKKK is protected under the Conservative Doctrine
Just say you are a conservative talk show host, and you are allowed to make any racist, bigoted, hateful speech you want, and it's ok because conservatives need to have a "forum".

If Imus had lumped himself in with Hannity, Rush, BecKKK all along, he'd still have a job.

24. Interesting theory. it's no secret CNN was looking for a "conservative" personality when they hired
Beck.

Thing is, do they/will they have the courage to get rid of him when he makes incredibly insulting comments as he did about the fire victims in California?

So far, they haven't even acknowledged it.

I've sent 3 contact messages. IMO, this should not go away quietly.
