The Calendars I have shows this weekend, but that is wrong for it was changed in 2005, effective 2007, to the first Sunday in November.

http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/b.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article1499835.ece

http://www.energy.ca.gov/daylightsaving.html

The following is from Lexis site, the Findlaw site is still using the older stature which gives the last Sunday in October instead of the First Monday in November. The same is true of several other sites I looked at, including the http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/e.html site above which in the site gives the Correct time (First Sunday in November) but when it sites the statute it refers to the old version of 15 USC § 260a instead of the one passed in 2005:

15 USC § 260a. Advancement of time or changeover dates

(a) Duration of period; ....... During the period commencing at 2 o 'clock antemeridian on the second Sunday of March of each year and ending at 2 o 'clock antemeridian on the first Sunday of November of each year,....

5. because radio stations start 24 hour Xmas music the next day
I really love Halloween.
Studies have shown (BTW) that the BS reason given for more daylight time - saving energy - is just that - BS.

9. Yep, and the change in Daylight Savings Time caused a mini-Y2K mess.
Millions of computers across the country and around the world had to be fixed to handle the new Daylight Savings Time correctly. That's a lot of man-hours which makes for some quick bucks for software engineers like me, but burned the country in general. Just a waste.

10. I heard it was the reason Hershey sold out to Nestle.
Basically older pre-teen Trick and Treaters prefer it to be dark when they go treat and treating. Since the older Trick and Treaters are older, they eat more candy. Thus when the last revision was done the Candy makers lobbied hard to make sure daylight Savings time was over by Halloween (younger Trick and Treater go with their parents AND they like it when it is light, but these smaller kids eat les candy). Thus the rumor that Hersery sold out to Nestle do to a fear in the drop of candy sales for October.

8. thanks for the heads-up!
Funny thing -- a friend called me in a panic just this evening. Luckily I had one of the new calendars. But I'm forwarding your links to her (I knew it was something altered by Bush, but didn't know exactly when the law was enacted).
