Woman whose previous home was destroyed by Katrina now has home in direct path of fire
And, she flew to L.A. in 1994 to visit her brother in Northridge, on the day of the Northridge earthquake. She seems to be a disaster magnet. Story and video here:

1. Jeez, typhoid Mary!!! Her house burnt down when she was a kid too!
I hope to never meet her, not that luck rubs off...but why take the chance?

3. One of my classmates from vet school was visiting family in SC
in 1989 when Hurricane Hugo hit(Sep 21), and then came home to CA and the big Loma Prieta quake hit almost under her house in Aptos(Oct 17).

From frying pan into fire, indeed.

4. A modern day Wilmer McLean. . .
who had the "distinction" to have the American Civil War begin in his kitchen and end in his parlor (he lived in Manassas at the start of the conflict and had his fireplace and stove destroyed in the first battle of Bull Run, then moved for safety's sake to Appomatox Court House and four years later hosted Grant and Lee when they signed the articles of surrender).

6. Most good Civil War histories mention McLean. . .
some even tell how his home was stripped bare by Northern troop souvenir hunters anxious for a memento of the moment.

7. It Could Be Worse
She could have a vacation home nearby to where Cheney hunts.

But seriously...good wishes that she escapes unscathed this time.
