What I wish Al Gore would do
I wish Gore would become a leader in the anti-war movement. I'd love to see him set up his own anti-war organization and plan a march on the White House with him leading it. That would make a huge statement, and I believe millions of people would get solidly behind him. He just won the Nobel Peace Prize. Yeah, he won it for his work on climate change, but I see no reason why he couldn't parlay it into an effective stance against the occupation in Iraq, and the threatening noise emanating out of the admin as regards Iran.

I'd love to see it happen. Am I missing anything here?

1. Yes - the environment is, in the big picture, more critical. That's where we need him. nt

2. Why is it either/or?
And I think the Iraq war and any pending attack on Iran is of at least equal importance at this particular moment in time.

4. Good question - it doesn't have to be either/or, but I think the environment
is such a HUGE concern it would take all of one's focus and effort.

I think that everybody is feeling that the war is wrong and it's time to get out. I'm not sure a march would accelerate our withdrawal.

I'm with you on what you're saying about the importance of Iraq and Iran, but there are many of us who are working toward that end.

Gore is the only person of his stature who is commanding attention to the global problems which are accelerating at an alarming rate.

5. He's qualified to make a comment on the issue
but I suspect his followers, and Gore himself, would see it as selling the climate change movement short by diverting his time and efforts.

Someone of Gore's stature needs to take on the role that Sheehan left behind.
